I have a question that has been confusing me for an awful long time: I've heard many times that starch in grains turns to sugar between 65 en 75˚C, so why do you have to malt your grains first if it will turn to sugar anyway?
@Spectacular-cuoredicioccolato3 жыл бұрын
Sorry but I am not able to explain it in English 😫 I hope that somebody will help

With the germination the starch is transformed in sugar Between 65 and 75*C the enzyme converts in different sugar that the yeast transform in alcohol
@fgconnolly41703 жыл бұрын
@@Spectacular-cuoredicioccolato so during malting the starch in converted into sugar and then during the cooking it is turned into something the yeast can convert to alcohol?
@pogdog13 жыл бұрын
@@fgconnolly4170 malting wakes up the enzyme which later will turn starch to sugar. The enzymes are called alpha, and beta amalayse, which do their job best at those temperatures

Can I use Chamomile herb or another kind of herbs instead of the hops you used ? Coz I did not find it in my country
@Spectacular-cuoredicioccolato6 жыл бұрын
Chamomile? 😂 do you think that the chamomile have the same taste of the beer?
@newmeadministration15116 жыл бұрын
cuoredicioccolato 1-what is exactly the reason for using the hops but not another kind? 2-For me i expected that the chamomile or anise would add a good taste 😂 what do you think?
@Spectacular-cuoredicioccolato6 жыл бұрын
The hops give the taste and help to preserve. The chamomile I don't think it will be good in the beer. Try the ginger beer it's very good and you can find all the ingredients

Pls tell me how to do the same with wheat? Does bread yeast work with this recipe? Ingredients are hard to find at our locality.

With the wheat you can do the same 👍. Instead of yeast you can use 1 grape
