life hack: grocery stores usually sell "butter oil" which just tastes like butter... cheaper tho. it's usually tiny glass vials, so you only add a few drops to each recipe.

I used to make microwave mug cakes often. They'd always use a lot of oil to stay moist. Would still get very dry and chewy anyways. I make non gimmik cakes now, easier to eat without prying them out of a mug
