Cup of Joe - Even More Airtightness!

The codes mandate the minimum airtightness of a home (5 ACH50 for warmer climates and 3 ACH50 for colder climates) How did that happen? Hint: geography plays a big part. How to get to this level of airtightness when it had never been attempted before? Cherchez la trou!
Question: Can we do better? Yes! How?
1. Air control layer goes on the outside (easiest for continuity and as we have learned, continuity is key).
2. Get rid of the big holes (see rule 1 above)
3. Use a fully-adhered membrane or a sheathing with an intregrated air control layer
Wait, you say. Those 3 things sound the same or at least are related. Yes. We are glad you can see that!

Thank you Joe! Finally some sanity. This current idiotic fashion of super-tight homes is insane, especially when entombing occupants in offgassing foams. To provide healthy air quality, you need expensive, complicated HVAC systems that need to be properly designed, installed and most-importantly, maintained. If any one isn't done properly, you're effectively gassing the occupants. I'd much rather have a reasonably priced 3ACH home that uses non-toxic materials (no foam/carpet/OSB). Joe, please get your daughter to talk about this, as well as clueing-in Bazcek/Risinger/Maines and all the rest who hype this nonsense.
