I can’t stand the sound of the baby in the background crying. I just wish that there is a spoon. They wouldn’t give it all at one time take the time slowly to feed them and you could tell the baby was hungry and I’m sure the background was very hungry.

Bottles cause problem... Causes nipple confusion if you are feeding both from breast as well as from bottle. Gradually the baby will stop breastfeeding due to nipple confusion. Secondly there are 10 times lesser chances of infection when using steel cup and spoon Vs using bottles with siliconised rubber nipple which are notorious for infection.

Sometimes babies have a weak or non-existent suck reflex. Babies that are born addicted to substances or have fetal alcohol syndrome often have this issue. They may also have a tongue or lip tie that makes it difficult to suck from a breast or bottle or they may be premature. This method is temporary until they learn to suck properly or the lip/tongue tie is fixed. There may also be other medical issues that cause them not to be able to feed normally. Thankfully most babies develop a strong suck reflex within a few weeks and slowly graduate to bottle or breast. Also, in many cases, the mother pumps breastmilk to give the baby by this method, so they are still getting her breastmilk but just in a different way. Hope that helps. 🙂

@@jackycardwell7819 you don't need a breast pump to express milk into a bottle. Fingers work the same way. This isn't about affordability however, this is about a baby having a non-existent or weak suck reflex. They CANNOT suck from a breast or bottle, so they have to use alternate methods to feed them. This is one way they do that and it also teaches the baby to suck over a period of time. Preemies can be born with no suck reflex, same with babies born with a lip or tongue tie, cleft palate, born addicted to drugs or alcohol - there are tons of reasons why this happens and the method used for feeding is based on what the baby can and cannot do.
