Having owned one for a little while now, 77kw, 20” Firestorm wheels, Silver, there have been many improvements since the early vehicles. Steering wheel left side buttons for cruise need to be pressed, they are not touch sensitive, right side buttons for other things are touch sensitive but work well, they can also be pressed! Absolute no problem with accidentally pressing of buttons. Beats audio system is great! Infotainment is good, customization is great, I drive with the 3 slashes displaying Nav, Radio and current consumption being displayed, each one has sub menus. Volume and air con work perfectly, no need for constant adjustment when driving. Remote pre heat or cool when the car is parked works perfectly, so hardly any need to even use air con! Also there is a favorite function that can be configured with 4 functions of your desire (the white square top right on screen)I have them as steering wheel heat, lane assist, hold function and internal lighting colour. Seats are sporty and comfortable, boot is a good size and deep since I don’t need the false floor. Speedo shows SOC and range etc all in one place. My old Kamiq feels like a dinosaur in comparison. Happy to answer any other questions although I’ve not had it that long.
@JubbaDangerous Жыл бұрын
Ahh….now it makes sense. Had my born V1 58kw for 2 weeks now (company car) and instantly realised the steering wheel buttons could be touch sensitive or pressed and wondered why passed reviews had not mentioned this. The updates on 2023 models explains this. Although I must say on few occasions whilst carrying out parking manoeuvres one handed I have accidentally activated the buttons. Agreed the Beats system is good, Much better then expected. Infotainment works, just need to get used to it and find your shortcuts. Also I never find the need to use the touch sensitive slider everyone complains about. I pretty much agree with your overall assessment…so far! I love the styling in & out, handles really well, and is practical enough for me, partner & child, whilst still being a smallish car. (Don’t want an SUV, especially in london). There are a few niggles but not deal breakers. Brakes are a bit lifeless and unresponsive at the top end however not such an issue in B mode which I mainly use. Feels a little crashy over humps but again I understand this is more common on e cars. Matt was right the gear selector is obscured by the steering wheel, annoying when you want to quickly bang it into reverse. I find myself having to look around that 2 spoked front pillar on drivers side at times. Having to set up my driver assist and preferred individual modes every start up is tedious but maybe this can be saved by settings up a profile…not had time to look. And where is my back seat armrest/cup holder ski hatch???? Was meant to be included, even on V1s. But honestly I’m quite happy overall, so far.

Update, 2 annoying things to mention, if you buy the 77kw battery and certain options, there is no middle seat in the rear, ie. Only 2 seat belts. This is due to the weight of the car reaching a certain limit. You can not spec a panoramic roof either with the 77kw car. Also, my car has a strange noise from that front axle or wheels, like a humming vibration noise, which isn’t affected by tyre rotation speed, but more by road surface. The quoted range figures of all EVs are still very much flawed in my opinion. The only time you are worried about range is when you're going on a longer journey and I suspect 99% of all longer journeys are done at speeds over 55mph and probably mostly at 70mph. They should be forced to quote range figures for driving at 70mph as part of the specifications.
@johnstonlee2 жыл бұрын
It’s easy. Just take range figures as best case scenario, when just like mpg quotes they always come out at 30% less. So a range of 300 is realistically 210 etc

Manufacturers are obliged to use WLTP standard test numbers when quoting range. It's supposed to help having a consistent scale when comparing one model with another. WLTP is also responsible for the fact that ICE car mpg is also way different from the variations you get in reality. Though there's nothing stopping manufacturers also giving real life examples with lower numbers in practice they don't ... for obvious marketing reasons.

Gloovebox doesnt have so much space because you got the steering wheel on the wrong side😂 On the left side is always the fuse box. Thats why on a right steering car the glove Box is smaller
@JALC-x2 жыл бұрын
RHD is the traditionally correct side for the steering wheel but we won't get into all of that, as for the fuse box though it's only on the left side because it makes sense in more markets, and most manufacturers are too cheap and lazy to move it across for RHD markets

The bonnet is really short. They've maximised manoeuvrability which is why the car is shorter than all others with similar interior space. Much better than having a longer bonnet just to add a frunk
@domcobb72052 жыл бұрын
I have an ID3 and yes, there would be no space at all for a frunk because the A pillar is very stretched, in order to maximize interior space. Furthermore, all the space in the frunk is occupied by the heat pump, which is an option that I have selected, the 12 volt battery and the washing fluid.

Because they obviously used what would be redundant extra storage space to put all the supplementary electronics etc to maximise cabin space and make maintenance easier.

I would like to know if these screens have brought any advantage to physical buttons? Or if the same thing remains and it was just another way for automakers to save money with less materials!

It's just money saving. Same as there being no buttons to control the rear windows and the temperature slider having no backlighting.

Regarding the gear selector. After two weeks ownership I still don’t just ‘find it’ more like ‘fumble for it’. Bit annoying when your used to quickly banging a manual into reverse for a quick manoeuvre. Learning and looking in the born is quicker, but annoying. Who knows might be able to find in time…without fumbling around or looking 😂

The gear selector placement and the fusebox in the glove box are cost cutting/don't care measures for the RHD market. also if they want you to select 'rear' before rolling the rear windows up/down, whats to stop them from putting only one switch and making you select which exact window you want to roll? so much cost cutting going on in this car.
@CarbonMotorsEU2 жыл бұрын
Matt, nothing wrong with the drive-select switch to be hidden behind the wheel. And the lights switches (the latter is almost always known Auto)... Please, don't look for fake or phony defects on cars. I get it: you don't spend much time with cars you review and you have to produce videos everyday. But please do not put fake arguments for the sake of selling us the good and the bad.

A properly design diffuser on EVs is kind of important for Aerodynamic Efficiency not handling. It's about better cutting through the air for more range. Soo it kind of does an alot for an important job.
@r0ut3662 жыл бұрын
The Seat doesn't have a diffuser. It's only cosmetic. And therefore (in my opinion) better left off entirely.
@Neojhun2 жыл бұрын
@@r0ut366 Nope that rear diffuser on the Cupra is NOT just cosmetic. You could probably see a measurable range loss if you change it to a worse aerodynamic shape. Sure it's not for handling performance purposes. But it's used for a different purpose on BEVs.
@r0ut3662 жыл бұрын
@@Neojhun quoting caranddriver: A diffuser acts as an expansion chamber to manage the air as it exits from underneath the car and reintegrates it with higher-pressure ambient air. Smoothing this transition reduces turbulence and drag in the car's wake and improves airflow under the car. The Cupra just appears to have some diffuser lookalike edges "stuck on" to the lower back panel. Between these, there needs to be openings to an expansion/hollow area. I can't see any evidence of these. Such fake "diffusers" are common in lots of cars now a days because apparently some people like them. And yes, I've read the claims on the Seat web site: "The never-before-seen rear end features a horizontal light signature and diffuser for greater dynamism and efficiency" I don"t even agree with their comments on dynamism!

The reviewer questions as to why Cupra bothered with a REAR button versus just having separate front and rear window buttons. Good point. However the user manual does partially explain Cupra’s logic. That REAR button has other functional purposes. Excerpt from manual: Press and hold the button to activate the comfort opening and closing of electric windows on all doors. When the function is activated, the light on the button flashes. All windows can now be opened or closed simultaneously with one of the two buttons
