Cupra Born VZ (79kWh) - 130 km/h (81mph) range test in the winter

Thanks Chris. What i dont get though is why set the car to 23c ? i only ever set mine to 18c as often i'm wearing a jumper or coat in the car during winter. It must be taking its toll on the battery with it constantly trying to heat up to 23c. Would be interested to see a short test with various heating devices on and off. I found i can save about 15% in my ID3 by keeping the heating low and just have the seat and steering heating on low.

I have the VZ first edition, in the UK and at 3c at 75mph, with AC at 18c got 240 miles in B mode, with the driving assistance.

@BatteryLife Great video! I wasn't sure if this particular car has a heat pump. If not, do you know how much a heat pump would improve the range in these cold conditions?

This Born has a heat pump. So a bit disappointed with that range.

I get my Cupra Born VZ in january 2025 (my first EV) and was checking the "A better routeplanner" app. Without creating an account or anything so I was wondering if the list of cars is more updated than what I see now. If I choose Cupra I only see models from 2021 and 2022? Will the list include the VZ in the premium plan? Does anybody know that?

AFAIK there's no difference in list between standard & premium users.

You can use the VW ID.3 GTX technically the same car. AP550 Motor and 79kWh

I have the VZ, for route planning purposes just use the V3 with the bigger battery, the difference is not worth worrying about.

Seat & steering wheel heating is sufficient 😅

Lower the speed and turn off almost all heat and aircon pump, then the range will be fine 😊. I have always used low heat in my car in winter. But nice video to see anyways 👍

Would be bad to change testing parameters. Then comparison would become very difficult and all old data would lose its value.

@X22GJP All people drives a car in their own way, so it's not a bad thing at all to drive more slow and you almost don't win anything by it anyways with higher speeds.

just take smaller wheels like 17" and you should get 4ß-60 km more range

This car is not allowed to have wheels that are smaller than 20" due to its weight.
