I'm ordering a VZ2 Hybrid next month. I had the pleasure of test driving one recently and whilst I was originally making enquiries about the V2 (the 204BHP version), I ended up testing the 245BHP version. I think the dealers do this on purpose because like many others, I fell in love with it.

@@marksneyd1262 Well, it’s dangerous to use anyway as you have to take your eyes off the road (just watch reviewers when they’re driving it) to use it. But, It is very slow to react and has just completely shut down a couple of times. To be honest, I have a load of issues with this cars overall design. I think it just sells on looks. Is it worth buying an electric car when I can only use a public charger (bp pulse) which costs £0.30 p/kw, if so which one do you recommend?
@CED993 жыл бұрын
kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqaTpHuPlq-Ge7sm08s EVM has a video on the costs of public chargers, at 30p/kWh you are looking ar 7.7p/mile, so running the EV will be slightly cheaper than running a petrol car. If it were me I'd download a charge app and keep an eye on the reliability /uptime of the local BP charger. You might be able to find some other charge points too, any chance of getting an hours charge free when you're doing the weekly shop?

So as someone with the 1.5Tsi (150) V2, I’d have to say that while I agree CUPRA have ventured a little deep into the less performance car territory, the way the car is set up is still ‘Fast’ the 0-62 mph quote is a bold faced lie like most other VAG group cars, I’ve had 6.4seconds to 60 from a Draggy. I’m moving soon to somewhere I will be able to regularly charge an EV and without doubt I’m going to try my best to get a VZ2 PHEV. Extra power, more torque, less cost to run. It’s a no brainer if you can afford it imo.
@keys61103 жыл бұрын
According to the video it’s cheaper than a Model 3, however the build, finish and quality of everything leaves the Model 3 for dead. Roll on the full electric version. (Hopefully at a cheaper price than the PHEB)

Afraid I am one of those that is biased. Really wanted to see the Born but it is taking too long to come to market, keep in mind it was initially planed to come on the market a matter of a few months after the ID3, well that car has been on the market for some considerable period of time and still no car yet. Back to the PHEV Formentor. Like all Phevs it is neither a good ice version nor a good EV as compromise has been made in both departments making it neither good in any department.

Fantastic car, but it’s a PHEV! I have always struggled with the concept. Lot of cost and technology for what? Yummy Mummies can drive spoilt kids to school without a conscience. One or the other not an inbetweener! 😎
@benholroyd52213 жыл бұрын
On the other hand 90% of people do less than 50 miles a day 90% of the time. But if a car only does 150 miles 90% of people seem to reject it because the range isn't high enough. So if you've got a car that can cover your day to day milage on the battery, that's good? I do mostly agree with you, from an engineering purity pov it is a cludge but it does seem to work, and if it wins over people who wouldn't buy an ev because they might need to drive to Dundee and back in one day then that's a win?
@e-redj3 жыл бұрын
You right, but there are lots of people that don’t like radical changes. Those peor need the PHEV to then go to fully electric. They will get the experience that driving electric is quite comfortable and maybe after some talks at the charging pole with BEV drivers they will decide to go fully electric at the next car. Don’t expect that anyone is that radical.
@KokowaSarunoKuniDesu3 жыл бұрын
I struggle with the reality of pushing Electric as the future at the same time as having a woefully inefficient rollout of charging stations across Britain. If you want to do the North Coast 500, you struggle to securely find a reliable succession of charging stations to get you round. If you want to get from Yorkshire to and around the Lake District - a more conventional trip, perhaps - you have the same experience. If you want to run electric on the urban cycle, but want to avoid the range anxiety of going anywhere more than 25 miles from home, a PHEV is *the* transitional technology that is going to be useful for the next 5 or 10 years.
@benholroyd52213 жыл бұрын
@@KokowaSarunoKuniDesu right but how often do you actually do those journeys? For myself I've done 1 journey in the past year that's more than a 150 mile round trip. Before that it's probably another year. And I can't think of a trip I _had_ to do. Yes you may not be able to do the north coast 500, but I can't drive across the Irish sea either. But neither of these things you 'have' to do. It's only notable because you could hypothetically do it in an IC easier than an EV. In the days of Concorde, I could do lunch in New York if I wanted. Now that option is removed I just do things I actually can do. That's not to discount your point about it being a transitional technology, I think most of that is psycological rather than physical though.
@georgedaville46623 жыл бұрын
@@KokowaSarunoKuniDesu - With a residual value of diddly squat, at some point prices will drop off a cliff. I am big supporter of EV technology, but feel that the Hybrid technology is a rip-off. The only company that has been successful at it is Toyota, who have been quietly getting on with it for the past 20 tears or so. Most of the model range has the hybrid technology at an affordable price.
