Cura Settings for Sonic Pad/Klipper

First of all, great video! And a question mate, I got a raspberry pi zero 2w and I did all the work for run it and use. It works well. So question, Getting the creality pad is the same kind of solution? And do you recommend use the same settings as show in the pdf for this hardware (raspberry) ? Thanks for you time mate !

Hi. Thanks for the feedback. To answer your question it depends on what your running on the ras pi. If your running klipper it would be very similar to the sonic pad. If your running octoprint and Marlin on the printer then there is a big difference. Either way, i recommend getting to klipper. The setting in the pdf are good as a starting point, you may need to tweak them a little based on your printer.

Thanks for this video. I’m fairly new to 3D printing and bought a sonic pad because I thought it would make life easier. I couldn’t be more wrong. I assumed you could create the g-code in Cura (although I don’t really know what I’m doing) and send it to the micro sd card, but put that in the USB adapter and plug that into the sonic pad instead of directly into the Ender 3 v2. It seems I am wrong.

Hi. At a high level what your saying is correct. The gcode is being created from Cura and its getting sent to the sonic pad. Cura just needs to know what settings are needed and i prefer to use the web browser over usb/sd.

I bought the sonic seven right after getting it.I just installed this the printer drivers or something that came with it and took off printings make any customs so am I doing something wrong? I got some of my best print ever.don't even hardly see the prints anymore.

Hi. Ya the print speed is determined by what is in the slicer settings.

Hi. The Ender 5 plus has an 8-bit board so its not supported.

Hi. Klipper allows the printer to be faster but you still have to tell it what speed to go at in the slicer. I would start with the cura profile for your printer then make the changes i mention in this video.

When you copy and paste the start and end g-code how are you doing it? It won't let me paste anything in Cura. This may be a dumb question, but you breezed through it so fast I didn't see how you did it.

Apart from reducing the retraction length, do you know of any other changes (for the profile) for the Ender 3 Pro with the all metal hot-end (microswiss) running on Klipper when slicing on the Cura? I am assuming I can use the V2 profiles since they are both bowden tube (non-direct drive). Using CHEP Ender 3 Pro profile as of right now (pre sonic pad profiles). Will compare that too the V2 profiles later.

Hi. The big setting differences will be speed and retraction. The v2 profile should work fine since the only real difference is the silent board and screen.

Great video and I have everything setup, however whenever i try to print the nozzle is about 2.5mm above the print bed. I performed the probe calibration and it still won't work. If I try to adjust the bed height then my adjustment screws max out and I can't adjust enough. Any help or assistance would be great.

Hi. Are you running the sonic pad? If so, the ones i call out here are probably a good starting point. Just make sure you set the build plate size correctly in the slicer.

Hi. I would start with the closest printer to the one you have in terms of specs, so the S1 is probably a good place to start.

Hi. I dont have one for the S1 Pro but the one i have for for the v2. It shouldn't be too much different as far as speeds and everything go to start with. You will need to tweak things based on the printers behavior though.

If you're going to be using the Sonic pad which runs Klipper, why did you choose the Merlin G-Code during set-up?

Hi. There isnt a flavor for Klipper that im aware of. The g-code is mostly the same minus a few commands.

Greetings from England. I thought the same thing as you @LP, but then I’m new to all this g-code stuff. I’d like to learn how to design & print my own items. At the moment I’m just getting stl’s from thingyverse and running them through Cura and hope for the best. I bought a sonic pad because I thought it would make things easier. Seems like I’ve still got a lot to learn.

Just wondering if you would recomend me setting my g code to a different printer as i have installled a sprite extruder pro with cr touch and filament sensor on my ender 3 v2. Or do i still run stock v2 g code????

Hi. You dont need to set it to a different printer. Just add the g29 command after the g28 for the bed leveling and make sure you calibrate your e steps.

What do you mean by starting with the ones for Ender? The Standard Profile who came with? I found a Profile on the Creality Print Slicer, but honestly I don't like this Slicer that much. Do you think I can copy that?@@3DPrintscape
