I think Kiros/Ward said it on the airship. Kiros says he looks like his mother and translates what Ward says, "Good thing he doesn't look like his dad." Plus Laguna carries Squall's card too, I believe.

Ellone wasn't raines daughter, laguna stated that himself when he said her parents were killed when resisting, trying to protect her from soldiers sent in the sorceress war to kidnap her. Even if she wasn't squalls blood sister the bond they had was just as strong regardless.

By the way you can see that Squall really looks like combination of Raine and Laguna. I'm surprised that so many people didn't realize that Squall is Laguna's son 😬😃

Don't forget their names are water related puns. A lagoon + rain = squall. It really did throw it in your face. 8 Was my favorite back then but these days I feel like it could of been written better and made longer.

it was NOT mentioned in game. but Laguna is REALLY Squall's dad. back in the 90's we were playing it and finished it. when you go back thru the clues of Squall and Laguna, you will realize that Ellone is connected to both of them.

ffviii is my favorite too. I realized that with the moombas, also when squall's hanging from being tortured in the prison when the moombas get him down, they also call squall Laguna then. I also remember when Laguna, Kyros and Ward go to the bar where Julia plays the piano, if you talk to the galbadia army officer in red, before Laguna attempts to talk to Julia and gets a cramp in his leg because he's nervous, the army officer will declare his infatuation with Julia. If you talk to that same officer after attempting to talk to Julia, he'll be jelous and tells Laguna, something like, "I'll fix you, I'll send you into battle halfway around the world. It was during this time, while Laguna was away and eventually thought to have been killed in battle, Julia was consoled by the man who was known in squall's time line as general caraway, it made me consider that the galbadia army officer in the bar that was jealous of Laguna was perhaps a young caraway.

Ff8 is also my favorite. People who hate the game is, you're right. They want everything to be right in their faces. They bash squall for being "emo" but squall has the best character development and there's a reason why he's defensive. By that alone says a lot about people

I'm so glad you elaborated on this. Played the game, spent soooo much time power leveling. Let my brother use my play station and he deleted my FF8 saves.... never had the time to play the whole game again but always fell in love with the story.

I've never played FF8, only seen videos (Which I am going to remedy by playing all main Final Fantasy games[I'm on FF3{ the real 3 not 6} right now]), and even I can see Laguna is Squall's Father.

Isn't that the beauty of Final Fantasy games? I mean, the name itself says it all, FANTASY! Having said that, 8 is my favourite by far, just because is the first one I ever played. I always loved Laguna and Raine's story, plus the song Eyes On Me playing in the ending is really nice

I knew about zack from FF7, there was a hidden scene with him back in nibelheim manor that explains the ending to crisis core well before it existed. This was explained in the primaguide well before the internet was a thing. in fact iirc Zack's history was its own questline. FF7 is its own emotional roller coaster when you get deep into it.

I loved 8 but it wasn't my favorite. But 8 is amazing. And I agree Laguna is for sure squalls dad and raine is his mother

FF8 is planned, I'm trying to knock out a Final Fantasy title every month; so eight will happen in January. (So faaar T_T) The link is displayed at the end of the videos; I can attempt to add links in the descriptions though sometimes the KZbin dislike that. I don't know why. ( ' w ')b

Ffviii had the junction system to completely change up the character development the crystals are sick materia is too but having Ninety Nine Death junctions to attack was just instakill status

I know this is pretty old now, but it's all in good fun. Ellone was not Raine's daughter, she was the neighbours daughter who Raine took in when Adel had her parents killed looking for her. So technically Ellone is Squall's adopted Sister. I'm pretty sure Ellone always knew who Squall was but he just saw her as the sisterly figure without knowing his actual connection to her.

Curaga yeah, Im actually playing FF8 right now. I am currently on disk one. I am playing it by non-leveling. I have my stats pretty good. I have Squall at level 7 still with 3086 hp and strength at 124. Im still in the city of Timber.

Personally, I prefer VIII's story than VII's, I don't understand the craze for it. I consider VI and IX to be the best though.

Ff8 story is more batshit crazy yeah, but that doesn't make it good, people not understanding isn't a good thing, the story is convoluted and overly complicated for no reason at all. also I thought everyone knew Laguna was squalls dad ....

FF7's story was needlessly complicated and contrived as well. I love the game but all of that stupid Sephiroth/Jenova crap makes me roll my eyes every time I play it.
