I have same one bought in Jan 2022. It was over $300. Worked 2 years now no water collection.😢. Compressor isn’t working. I cleaned it last fall for winter storage now using it again and only fan running then nothing. Manufactured 6/21

I had purchased one of these 3 and half years ago for about 320 and it just recently stopped working. It works but does not extract water from the air.

same unit same problem. only difference is mine was manufactured in Aug. 2020. It's criminal what this company and others have been doing with these products. There are known issues and they keep dumping them on the US consumer. This is Haier a Chinese company but they are not alone. I have had the same experience with Hisense. It's a war we are losing and losing badly. Dehumidifiers are simple machines and should last 20 years or more. And they should be serviceable when there is a problem. But I digress.

Great video. Also did you know there is a great big dehumidifer recall involving several brands from years ago. The issue was they were catching on fire. Some of these you are finding may be recalled units. You need to check the model numbers online, and see if they are recalled units.

Bought the 35 liter GE model and it didn't last a year. GE sent reimbursement for broken one after I bought a new unit. New one cost $20 more than original unit so I took the loss. Same problem you describe. Compressor works but draws low amps and coil doesn't get cold. I assume freon is gone.

My in-law has this, it's even newer and same issue. GE stands for Garbage Everywhere

They are junk. Had two of them. I fixed one of them. Had to braze a service port on suction line, pulled a vacuum and weighed in a new 410a charge. Works fine now. Almost like they are undercharged from Chinese factory. Not hard to recharge but you need the tools and skill. NEVER buy one of these without the extended warranty, you’ll need it. Home Depot real good honoring warranty.

I just grabbed a free one from the 70's. Might not have enough charge in it as it seems to be freezing up on my initial test, but once fixed that thing will probably last another 40..

I just grabbed one from a dumpster (maybe the same model?), and it works! It was plugged with dog hair, and I assume the previous owner didn't know that they had to clean the filter? It was resting on its side, so perhaps the oil had left the compressor? I let it sit for 12 hours upright (I'm impatient) and cleaned it internally before powering it on. It's relatively quiet. I should have cleaned the PCB better, but didn't since that would have required cutting zip-ties.

Would have been much better if you had shown how to get it apart. I need to get mine apart to check and clean the coils.

I don't remember this one exactly. You have to take all the screws out of the case. There might be 2 screws inside at the top for the front panel. The 2 halves are still held together with plastic tabs, you have to just pull and pry to get them apart.

Was looking for this as well. There's two screws near the top, under the back cover, that hold the front in place. Six screws on the back, plus one on each side, hold the back cover in place. Normal screwdriver length works fine. Four screws for the front panel, behind the bucket. All screws are the same size. When putting the front back on, screw in the top two on the back, then secure the back, then start with the top two screws. The last two at the bottom will screw back in easily.

News flash it’s not just the GE brand….I had a Frigidaire that failed after 3 years and a “top of the line” Friedrich that failed after 2 years. The repair guy at Friedrich told me that since manufacturers switched to the newer Freon that requires high pressure, the coils fail under the pressure and release the refrigerant making the unit useless. More garbage from China that Americans are paying top dollar for. The solution? I bought a vintage unit from the 1980s at an estate sale and it works beautifully.

Modern dehumidifiers are all junk, but GE is probably the worst, their air conditioners are the worst also. Buying an old one is the way to go.

Mine appears to be doing the same thing. Runs, compressor gets warm, coils don't cool at all. Maybe pulls half an amp. I guess if you don't have refrigerant to pump up the compressor really isn't compressing anything and thus the low amp draw. Luckily I bought mine second hand for like $100 brand new. It did last a couple of years of nonstop use. I would be pissed if I spent $300 on one of these.

Same unit from 2022…18 months old and GE did nothing except for a good will certificate and getting it is the hardest way possible. This company went down the drain

Refrigrent not freon that's what dupont called it in the 30s,40s,50s for refrigerant is cars so all.the boomers say that it's not ..

Dupont literally called it Freon 12. It was patented and trademarked. It's still a trademark of theirs but has a soured reputation these days. I wouldn't call much else Freon besides 12.

You really need special HVAC equipment for that. I wouldn't attempt it, unless you know what you're doing. You're supposed to have a license also to work with the refrigerant.

More or less, you will need to install a connector into the piping, recover the refrigerant, vacuum the system, and weigh in a new charge... Not for the faint of heart.

Mine will run a few minutes to an hour and then stops running It has a manufactured in China date tag of 5/20. I'm writing this in 7/22. It became a halfway decent basement heater over the last week and a half. Over last couple days it became a great exercise machine. It got me going up and down the basement stairs to turn it off and on ever hour or so and really wamed up the basement. There is no freon recharge fitting on this 20lbs-ish appliance. It's mostly copper, plastic, about as much lead as a 🎮 and heading to the 'transfer station' to hitch a ride to the ocean. I would have recharged and kept it and 300 American dollars in use if folks from the 80's and 90's hadn't pulled the inert gas plug that used be regular on Freon appliances..but that option was regulated away by the popularity of misguided greenhouse hysteria. Rest assured, several lbs of copper will be turning green, instead of getting electricity to your house, because the EPA took a simple maintenance operation from us. Landfill or ocean bound it goes along with the majority of recycling waste. I know folks say that the power of environmentalists prayers had elevated R-12 up into the trioxide/ozone layer. Gives me hope that copper can float in water. With enough turbulence, you may too.

Read the directions bro hold filter for 3 seconds ...and how do you know it's not working you have to wait for water collection. Why the hell do you have it outside maybe there is very little humidity that day 😂
