Go watch that handyman dude that gloat’s all the money he makes do his tile and grout he was struggling but making it seem like he knew what he was doing. Loved watching him getting all that grout off it was classic I bet it was still hazed when he left 😂 Maybe he will learn to clean the grout as you go then you just have 1 final clean at the end not several 👌

Great work. Going forward I would put backing in for some grab handles . You never know when or if they will need it. But it might give the customer a piece of mind. A 2x6 or some 3/4 ply at 3ft high is quick and easy to install.

Yap, been doing that for the last year or so on my bathroom renovations. Backings also for future ADA shower seats, I have contractor friends that have 2 x 12 remnants that I get them free. This job that I just finished today gave me a headache, I had the backings installed for towel bars, level mounted, and then he goes and changed his mind to go for a fancy towel holder that have 3 bars that swivel 180 degrees, upright mounted, LOL.

I remodeled three completely at my homes over the years. On average it took me 2 months. One took a year since I was severely injured on the job. But having a spare totally helps. They all started out basic and then I expand my plans and go all out. The wife would bitch, but always helped out. Skylights, heated floors, body sprayers, large glass, just to name a few things. A year later, when it was extremely cold I shut off the floor heat and she asked why is the floor so cold. That’s when I said gotcha, she laughed and understood why things take so long.😂 I truly love the speed of your progress and the channel! The only way to get what I want is to do it myself, due to costs and quality of remodelers in my area.

I just found your site looking for a sequence or steps for remodeling a bathroom. I cannot believe the layers installed on the shower floor! I am guessing it is a better water seal by overhanging the inside of the alcove rather than bringing the tile level to the inside walls eliminating seeing the cut edge. see 6:28 time stamp EDIT: I originally found your 99 step video. 👍

Might have missed it, but at 4:15, before you start laying down the floor tiles, how did you make sure there was a slight slope down, towards the drain? Isn't this necessary to avoid spots of sitting water? It looks great overall, but I wish we would get past this latest trend of those small square tile sheet. It's been 20 years of renovating with those ugly little squares!

Nice idea but thunder isn’t a waterproofing material. I installed one of these systems and said never again. Luckily mine was over slab on grade so if it leaks it won’t cause a ton of damage. It took me just as long to install this system as it does to do it the right way with floated walls/pan that will last 20 years plus without issues. This system will luckily last 5

Very nice. I like the tile work. Only thing I don’t understand is why you would not want at least a shallow curb for water retention. Seems to me that this design is asking for water problems outside the shower.

I have a walk in shower in my house I lived in for about a year and it’s clean but constantly smells moldy and was thinking water is getting under the same small tiles on the floor like in this video. How would you prevent this from happening? Is it wise to to use a solid pan verses tile. Or do you need to seal the grout every so often? We are wanting to tear it up make sure there’s no water damage and mold just curious what to do for the remodel.

@YoutubegroomskidsАй бұрын
over the heating element yes, don't do that shit. You are supposed to skim over it with thinset. To install it you must use unmodified thinset tho. The topcoat skim doesn't matter. Then again each state does their jobs different. Her in commieformia California this is the way its done here.

Its to encase the radiant heat wiring. Im pretty positive you can pour over that style of underlayment. Its meant for that wiring which in turn is required to have leveling compound be poured over.

@YoutubegroomskidsАй бұрын
online and even Home Depot sells there version of those but i have no idea the quality of the materials used tho. The one in this video looks like the ones I've seen that cost over 200 dollars. Well worth the money if you are over 200lbs in weight and not doing flooring as your main trade then they will last you for years. Also Tile shops that do have a tool section might carry them also.
@GeorgeSharp-rv6ez27 күн бұрын
They are called pro knee. You take your leg measurements and they are custom made (or they stock various sizes to fit). Takes the pressure off your knee and distributes it along the whole leg. You can wear them pain free all day. These are over $200.00 now, but worth every penny!

Everyone is different, I prefer old school. Durock walls taped and waterproofed, 2 layer dry pack base with rubber membrane in between. For a curbless shower, it should start below the rest of the floor to add sufficent drainage angle. I have completed 12 showers (and many surrounds) with no preblems in over 20 years. The Schluter system is more involved with too many steps and too many layers.
