Curdled Creamer

Pierre Creamer was a coach for the Pittsburgh Penguins during the 1987/88 season. It was an adventure that many who experienced it would like to forget. This video is in dedication to one of the worst fits for a head coach the NHL has seen, and maybe will for a while to come.

Those four have no drive to win - their sole motivation is cold, hard cash, so once they've gotten that, why push themselves any harder for a meaningless trophy that doesn't make them any more money? Connor and Leon at least have the hunger to win the Cup - their only problem is the incompetence they're surrounded with thanks to Holland's overreliance on those two carrying the rest of the team on their shoulders.

Personally I don't care for them. Maybe they'll grow on me but so far, they are just making me cringe & think of the 'Nostalgic Critic' and how his movie reviews became more about his skits, than the movie being reviewed. Tree does a great job of focusing on the psychology and personalities of the people he does videos on. Secret Base I feel focused more on the Cavs and treated Stepien as a chapter, the darkest chapter, of the Cavs story. I feel like theirs more to Stepien the person that Tree could work with.

I wonder how much of the communication issues were rooted in the Penguins not hiring a translator If Bobby Valentine and Trey Hillman could lead their teams to Japan Series titles (and in Hillman's case, a Korean Series title as well) despite the language barrier, communication might not've been the only issue. Then again Hockey is much harder to coach than baseball

I'm old enough to remember all of this vividly. Just to give you an idea how much a joke the Pens were, there was a major newspaper whose sports section routinely referred to the Pens as the "Penquins." Yes, that's the letter 'Q;' yes, I wrote them about it; no, they didn't stop doing it, because no one gave a damn about hockey in the 80s, much less Penguins hockey. Jerseys? You wanted a jersey? You had to mail order it from a Canadian company and then wait three months because it took them that long to procure one because no one cared enough about the Pens to keep them in stock.

Eddie Johnston wasn’t fired; he was demoted to assistant general manager. He ended up leaving Pittsburgh for Hartford. It wasn’t until 1993 that EJ returned to Pittsburgh.

An interesting coach in sports for Tree to take a look at is Buck Showalter. Not to say Buck is bad, but had some rough luck. Is out with the Yankees, they immediately become a dynasty. Out with the Diamondbacks, they immediately win a World Series. Was there to pull the Orioles from the ashes, only for it all to crash & burn at the end of his tenure

Only real Penguins fans can appreciate moments like these. I know it sounds like a cliché, but the old saying does ring true "if you don't love me at my worst, you don't deserve me at my best". It's usually when teams reach their lowest points, either cause of rebuilds or PR blunders, do you actually see the fans that give a damn. Even as a rival fan (look at my icon), I want the Penguins to be competitive.
