Cure for the Rub. Tundra and 35’s. DIY Fix.

After switching to wider 35’s and having a rubbing issue with the upper control arm. Wheel spacers where in order. 2 inch wheel spacers then created an Serious rub on the front bumper inner fender. I end up cutting and re-drilling a couple of holes in order to set the inner fender further away from the tire. Subscribe to watch more of this Tundra overland build.

35's are always a challenge but oh so worth it. I'll be looking at a body mount chop soon for my 4Runner just for 34s.

Cant help you now, but, i took mine off and spent a couple of hours with my heat gun and plastic welder forming the fender well so it will not rub

I have a 2014 Toyota tundra SR5 and when I bought it had a 3 inch lift with 35’s. I did not like the rubbing at all period I went to a 34 inch tire (34.1) which is a 275/65/20. I have a great look and no rubbing. There are a few are the tire sizes available that you can choose but this size works perfectly.

I also have 275/65/20's and still had spots that scrubbed. wheel offset matters as does tire brand. 35's would have been a nightmare

Also you can shim the front bumper out a half an inch to an inch if you really wanted to as well

Are you running stock UCA's? Any lift at all? Just curious because I installed a 3" lift and used rough country UCA's and my rubbing was minimal, just some minor trimming up front and removal of the mud flaps cleared me

2 inch spacer lift with stock uca's on stock pro suspension. This was a get me through patch job until I replace stock suspension. Took a grinder to the stock uca to clear the tires initially. Then went the wheel spacer route to get the tire away from the uca. Wouldn't have had near the issues if I would have used a smaller wheel spacer. Thinking about getting a aftermarket tubular uca might clear the tire better without having to use the wheel spacers.

Just put 3 inch on my 17 Sierra sierra single cab work truck v6 2 wd rubbing at max and in reverse watching with hopes this is easy

Just put 35s on and I can’t even clear the bumper to see where it hits on the panel lol. I’m cutting a 45 in the bumper. I have a long way to go

Should have just put spacers at your bumper mounts and pushed it forward 1 inch😂

Agree. Bumper shimming would be where I would have started if I had the opportunity to do it again.

Yes, I had been running narrow 35's (285/75 18's) with a 2 inch leveling kit on stock pro suspension. Due to availability I had to go with 35 x 12.5's and they rubbed the UCA which is OEM. Led me to install wheel spacers and it opened Pandora's box with a multitude of additional rubbing issues. Thanks for watching.

@@floridalife7564 Man its maddening to say the least. I might try to shim the bumper a 1/4 of an inch or so. Will fix hard lock issues until off road bumper gets installed. 1000x better than before but still not exactly the way I want it.

@@floridalife7564 Really hate cutting. I made a vow if I cut or trim its non painted and could be replaced at a low cost. I cut my 4runner bumper twice and it made me ill.

2 inch strut spacers (level kit) in the front. Stock rims (stock offset).

With the wheel spacers installed it changed the contact point from the sway bar to the plastic bumper trim. Sway bar rubbing was before the spacers. I'm still rubbing with the spacers but I also cant clear the UCA's with out the extra clearance. I guess its a work in progress. lol. Thanks for watching.

Just shim the entire bumper assembly forward without cutting

@@Wheel2LiveOffRoad to the untrained eye and passers-by, you don't notice the gap on mine. However, personally knowing that there are body lines not aligned does bug me a bit (just a little bit though)
