I'm from meghalaya but first I'm indian i know when my people are wrong and I'll say it out loud without hesitation but in this situation the government should be held accountable for! Killing a surrendered ex militant in front of his children is not right the court is there to prove if the person is guilty or not. The government is so corrupt out here my people are suffering so much and with the increase immigration of bangladeshi brings our state into a very difficult situation.

Not at all researched work, Shillong had a huge troubled past, there were a series of violence against Bengalis, Nepali, Punjabi, and Bihari settlers, back in the 80s and 90s. Many shops owned by Marwaris communities were burnt and owners shot dead in the broad daylight by local militants groups, There was a bloodbath and deep scar which runs through in the mind of non-tribals living in Shillong for generations, even then they never felt Shillong like their own home, they are being constantly subjugated by racism and prejudice by tribal people (Khasi tribe). Shekhar probably lived in Shillong in the 2000s, and never bothered to research what happened there a decade or two before he arrived. Really sad to see such immature work coming from him. Whatever he professes cannot be always researched backed and true. I will seriously doubt his works hereafter. P.S. - I was born and raised in Shillong and have lived there for the first 25 years of my life.

I was very surprised when SG said Meghalaya has been completely peaceful over the years. My family is from Shillong, during the 80s, 90s and early 2000s there was a lot of political violence against "outsiders" read Bengali, Bihari and Nepali etc.

Fake encounter by security forces in Northeast can again push the region to vulnerability. The HNLC leader was sick and bed ridden, and he had also surrendered long back, lately there’s been no insurgency issues in Khasi hills at least - very peaceful and full of tourists - but actions like these will again infuriate the people.
