How far unnecessary mental stress and genetics are related to diseases, most importantly genetic diseases?
@JZGreengo
@JZGreengo Жыл бұрын
Are all diseases genetic? Or could genetics really be the solution to all of our problems that will eliminate preventive care which isn’t really great because preventive care has its limitations, we can practice good habits and live a healthy life and still get cancer, it happens to people

There is something called epigenetics. For example lets say a man who is fat exercises for years and haves a child. Now the child being obese reduces because there are epigenetic changes in the dna which will make the child more fit. Same goes for stress, if u take a lot of stress there are certain genetic changes. Also taking more stress increases chances of other diseases like diabetes or blood pressure. When it comes to generic diseases lets say muscular dystrophy or sickle cell anemia they dont have much impact by mental stress. But staying happy without stress will surely help the person to lead a good positive life. Also these epigenetic changes are slow but they do effect!

@@ayushtank_2307 well external stress, bad environment, may lead to bad lifestyle, and can cause obesity, diabetes, heart disease etc. and if the same lifestyle and stresses are passed on from generations that disease can pass on too. But don't you think, a Hispanic family (just for example) with generations of obese people will never have skinny kids because they passed on their genetic obesity? However, my question regarding codependency between stress and genetic diseases was more about, say for example, Skin diseases, Turner Syndrome, Down Syndrome, or Allergies, are these related to Stress on the patient or patient's earlier generations?

@@sakondo789 A person with family background of obesity has higher chances of being obese, so in that generation there might be a skinny guy because generations before a ancestor might have been skinny or just environmental factors played role. There is possibility for skinny guy in obese family. And i think as per the originally asked question by you there is no direct correlation between stress and generic disorders. Lets take down syndrome, the genetic factors for that is in chromosome 21. Person with down syndrome has a extra copy in 21st chromosome. So that child has it before it is born so there is no role of stress. Skin diseases is indeed depended on stress, like acene breakouts, dermatitis can occur when we are under stress. But again skin diseases like vitiligo are again genetically predefined before birth during embryo period. Sometimes these characters dont show up, they show up later in life. In that case stress or trauma or any environmental factor might have affected it. So it depends on what person has somewhere stress can induce some changes but they are in the genes. Stress might have triggered it. In day to day life it is very complex to determine what triggered what.
