They probably used them to make deliveries and didn't want to risk them being followed on the way back. I can't imagine why they would save the remotes, though

As soon as you mentioned multiple printers I became suspicious. My initial thought was that the contents were likely stolen. Then when you found the attempts to copy currency I figured they were trying to print currency. Maybe the perpetrator is already locked up and that’s why they stopped paying rent on the storage unit. Guess the police can lift prints from the IDs and currency and run them through their db and maybe have additional charges against the perpetrator and possibly others. Love the locker series. Actually like all the series.

Someone holding onto 12 broken printers thinking "someday I get them to work" wouldn't surprise me... Now that I think about it, how did the printers print money scale. The usually won't do that... you can enlarge or reduce, but you can't just copy money (I learned this in photography class, before someone asks.)

Canadian money is incredibly difficult to fake, too. If you're not familiar with Canadian currency look up a video describing them. I got a fake fifty through my bank recently and the size was blatantly incorrect. Checked through the other markers too and the only thing they'd gotten right was the clear window.

I also commented something similar a year ago and someone very kind replied "In an older video Alex has explained why he films this way and why it's easier for him" In a few videos back Alex shared that he has sciatica pain around his muscles and when he lifts. Since I work in a hospital with physical therapists, I know for a fact picking up heavy items from one side of one's body, trying to fit into tight spaces with little or no flexibility; limitating your head to turn one way to stare or scan a room, etc. can lead to many health problems down the line. Our muscles can flex, but it has its limits, too.

I remember working for a printer repair company and stumbling onto a pretty sketchy warranty return situation. Someone was trying to print off $100 bills on a very fine cloth paper, and it got jammed. Rather than remove the paper through the feed mechanism, they just left the 3/4 printed bills in the printer. We had been told in training to report any such instance immediately. My boss took the printer and we never saw it again. The secret service is supposed to be involved in any sort of suspected counterfeit currency scheme. I have no idea if the company escalated it that far, but it was pretty sketchy.

Agree with the gloves comments, there could be contact toxins in those bins if they handled or stored certain substances. I saw that a policeman had to use an od kit because he had skin contact with some during an arrest.

If they used the printers to forge money, those printers might have memory cards with some data stored by date and sometimes it would have an IP address if it was connected to WiFi.

I’ve won several storage units over the years. Is interesting piecing someone else’s life by going through their stuff. Some was from people who went to jail, some were just junk they stopped paying for…. One was from a college football player who moved out of state and left his Nike shoe collection for me…..

I've found 3 units with drug pipes and a bit of dope too. Mostly get things from some poor woman and kids that were thrown in a box at midnight to run from some situation. You know, the dirty dishes filthy clothes, small garbage cans with garbage etc.

Ya…. Lots of photocopiers. Those have memory cards in them. The police can download the info to see which copier they were using for those counterfeit dollars.

I unfortunately "abandoned " my storage unit several years ago. I was taking care of my Mother, in a different city, who was dying of cancer. My credit card expired and I didn't even think about the storage shed. My neighbor was picking up my mail for me to go thru every couple of months when I could get someone to cover for me with my mom. I had the largest unit and lost a lot of vintage and antique items.

Stumbling across a forger’s unit , well hopefully there’s a reward attached to this . Sounds like they were perhaps applying for social assistance under different aliases ? Or with phoney ID, buying stuff legally with ill intent ? ( guns etc ). Hope the police put a stop on this . I got a very bad feeling ….

Everything you found in that unit screamed to me what I recall my sister storing when she was deep in her addiction and trying to get help, or trying to convince herself and others that she was getting help. I hope that isn’t the case for this person. You do need to take those items to the police though. All of those items are criminal to have in The States…I imagine it isn’t much different in this case in Canada.

As a career security professional, my alarm bells were going off by about the 6 minute mark. One powered bicycle, a couple of other higher-end brand name bikes, random electronics, a BUNCH of masks, and what appeared at a glance to be a black hoodie in the box with a couple of those... I'm automatically defaulting to "probable B&E artist storage". The counterfeiting angle starts to make a lot of sense when you consider the number of copiers found... counterfeiters today often mess around with different ones until they find the models they like to work with.

I had a situation that eventually involved the police. I lost the proceeds of my sales. I could have fought the cash seizure but it wasn't worth enough for me to hire a lawyer should there be any money left after the lawyers and government took their cut.

If the printers arent worth anything, you can sell the print heads. Id be all interested in looking up what those controllers are worth. Wonder if any go with drones? Glad as always you still care about doing the right thing. Makes me think of 9/11. Some of the terrorists lived right here in san diego in apartments in the little community I grew up in. You never know what kind of weird crap people are doing or involved with.
