Queen Victoria sent tins to the British troops containing Cadbury chocolate
@historicmilitaria19445 жыл бұрын
originally the WW1 tins were supplied empty save for a pencil on a card, before being sent to troops they were factory filled in one of 6 ways depending on who was to receive them, smokers,non smokers,nurses,seikhs,,boy sailors etc etc, the tins were issued in two types, brass then brass plated, the brass plated one was issued due to a large supply of brass being sunk on the Lusitania so all brass was diverted for making shellcases. although dated 1914 they were still on issue in 1919.

7:41 The Sportsman Cigarettes match pack stirred a memory for me. When I was young (back when the dinosaurs roamed) my grandfather smoked Sportsman Cigarettes. The front of the pack was basically the same logo as the match pack but the back of the pack featured sporting scenes like fly-fishing. Amazing how such an innocuous thing like a match pack can trigger a long-forgotten memory.

@Amadeo Love that recollection man. Same exact thing happened to me when I saw the blue and black Bugler logo recently (cigarette tobacco and papers). The plaid Car Caddy was usually given as an item usually found at a green or plaid stamp redemption gift you could get at your local stamp redemption center or from their catalog in the late 1950's into the 60's, if you ever come across one of those catalogs it makes for some interesting insights into advertising from that time. The stamps were given as way to get you to buy your groceries at the chain grocery stores like A&P or Safeway Grocery Stores and were given for the dollar value of how much was spent, you could get everything car caddys. to coolers to luggage all the way up to a Cessna Air Plain, remember dreaming a a kid what it would be like to get the plain...

The Essex Constabulary items are pre-1974 items from the "now" Essex Police" in the UK. The "swords on the crests are NOT swords" They are referred to as Sea Axes, and are easily identified by the notches in the blades. The Essex Police have approx 30 stations active. Just an FYI, the County of Essex in Ontario uses the same shield and the Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment (Windsor and Chatham, Ontario) also have the three sea axes on their cap badge.
