I am without words... I am shaking... crying... watching this... you literally just walked into a FRACTION of what I inherited. I’ve been working through this house for 3 years... just starting to drop the emotional baggage that comes along with being the only child of a hoarder... almost everything you have picked up, taken a second look at, hesitated in front of, right down to the “fisher price house you want to build”... is in this house, this MOUNTAIN..the pressure in my chest is unreal. My mom wanted to “sell it all” too... and she never did. This family... without your intervention would be me... carrying this burden and trying to make the best of it. I suffered so much trauma grieving my mother and being left with every suitcase, jack in the box, bird cage, oil can... to deal with... You and Melissa inspired me to throw open the blinds 3 months ago and document my journey on KZbin... every turn you take, every house you enter... feels like direct signs to me.. to give me strength... to keep going... that I am not alone... I absolutely can not WAIT to witness this “4th house”... you are becoming pros at this... and you teach me.. you give me strength. Finding your channel a year ago...You absolutely have no idea how much the two of you have changed the course of my life.. and continue to do so. If I can ever EVER find a way to thank you... my very first video... I tried. It will never be enough.

@@jonnylumberjack6223 I agree that’s it definitely collecting taken too far, but it has veered into hoarding. They have kept a good portion of it organized and clean and in good condition. They don’t seem to have accumulated garbage and trash and the kitchen appeared to still be relatively clear and functional. But there’s also a portion where there are items just sort of thrown willy-nilly and without care - that’s where it truly crosses the line, I think. When the act of simply acquiring things is the end goal without caring for them once they’re in the home, then it’s hoarding and not overblown collecting.

It is definitely meant to be an Albert Friedrich Schröder. I don't see this particular original online, though there is an old auction for a print. This suggests that it hasn't been in circulation for a while. Clearly, this needs to be looked at by someone with some expertise. If it's legit, I would expect to see gallery and/or auction data on the back. Otherwise it's most likely an amateur copy.

I'm 15 minutes into this new series and I really, really want to express my admiration to the owners. Yes, this is Curiosity, Incs's channel and Alex does wonderful things, but it's only possible because of the owners. They are probably monitoring comments or someone they trust is doing that for them. I know it takes a mountain of courage to let someone else come into your home and 'help', especially if it's a hoard. I lived next to my neighbor for 18 years, watch her go from an active senior citizen to a woman that couldn't leave the house. It was a struggle for her to throw things away, stay on top of the house maintenance, and keep the roof from leaking. Her hoard got wet and moldy. She stopped cooking because she was afraid of fire. Adult Protective Services attempted to put her into a home, twice, but it never stuck. She didn't want to leave but she also didn't want to make changes and I have a lot of compassion for that. It's her life! Everything important to her was inside her home as tangible objects. So, I cannot express how much I admire this family, that has said, "okay, we'll take some help". That's so beautiful to me. It makes tears well in my eyes.

I don’t know why there aren’t more likes in this comment, you are spot-on. Every series like this he puts out has at least one person, sometimes a whole family, allowing themselves to be vulnerable in so many ways. To be trusting, to possibly face some of their own emotions. It’s rather voyeuristic of us to film, watch, profit etc from it, so I appreciate you pointing out and respecting them. We must watch with the respect and understanding any human would deserve, not just “oh my gosh look at all that STUFF oh how NICE of you to clean it”. That can get rather dismissive of the depth of it. You nailed it. Thank you. 🙏🏼

The garage set up reminds me a lot of my grandparents. For years they’d go to auctions and buy all kinds of stuff and then have 2 big garage sales every summer. People would come from all over the area every year to see what new Goodies they had. It was quite an event and my cousins and I would spend our afternoons there “helping” but mostly drinking pop and eating grandma’s homemade donuts she made to sell. They worked really hard to keep inventory moving but it got harder to keep up with as they got older. My grandpa passed away a few years ago and my grandma died this winter. As far as I know their garage and shop are still full and need to be emptied. It makes me sad to think this couple in your video in physically unable to keep up with their hobby/business anymore. Based on their music and art collection they seem to be interesting and cultured people. I can’t wait to see what you discover and I’m sure the family will be so appreciative of your help!

When we were closing my dad's estate (not a hoarder sitiuation, but LOTS of stuff nonetheless), we actually had to pay someone to come and clear the remaining contents. We got two quotes: one was for $2000 and the other was $700. The higher priced one would have scrapped the metal, including cutting off electric cords from appliances, and would have taken the rest to the dump. The lesser priced one recycled, donated, and resold the rest at the flea market. Sure, some items had to be trashed, too. Of course we went with the lesser priced option. I point this out because I feel that the fact that Alex pays for the contents, while doing all the work (hiring staff and renting dumpsters), may make many expect the same if they find themselves in a similar situation. 50% for the amount of work that will be involved is not nearly enough, imho.

Love the Dalek clock, and the records, oh I would have so much fun going through the records. I really know how people’s homes get to this stage. I’m almost there. I used to go to flea markets, buy and sell and my home is almost full. I have 2 rooms that I can’t get into. I’ve already empties one room and one hallway. This week I will be working on one of the 2 rooms. I am purging, being ruthless. I don’t want to be buried beneath stuff.

I have no doubt that he is also becoming known in the area as the person to call to clean out a house. Maybe not by the owners of the property but through referrals and friends. Maybe the local authorities that gave them the 4 day ultimatum suggested him? Either way it adds to his business, gains him respect for his fair dealings, and gives the rest of us interesting videos to watch. If this keeps up Alex will have to add staff to keep up with the traffic and maybe he can negotiate better terms with Kastners (they must love him by now even if he does cause them more work).

I have no doubt that he wants to make a profit but it seems like this one is a little more iffy than the rest. Alex is a great guy (more so than most I imagine) and figured that the 50% was doable. Would he take the job if the place was full of trash, probably not. I assume he had at least a quick walkthrough before he made the offer even though the video made it seem that he hadn’t. I also assume that the owners could (possibly with great trouble) afford to have someone come in and trash everything just so they could keep their house. It might have made more business sense to say 50% with a minimum of x$ just to cover his expected costs.

Fascinating and amazing and interesting at the same time. I'm sure they will be amazed at what you do to stage the place and make their house a home again. It does look like a great space with proper decorations/housekeeping. Hopefully, you might plan a follow up show to see how they keep the place? Like, a year from now?
