Back when I was a kid one of my friends father had a whole big room set up with tables pushed together with plywood on top of them . The whole thing was set up with train tracks and trains. He had all of the buildings. Water towers and all sorts of things. I used to go over there all the time and watch him run his trains. The only thing was he wouldn’t let anybody touch them or play with them. The room was about 20 x 20 feet so you can imagine how much stuff he had in there. The last time I saw my friend is when I was 9. I am now 65. Been a lot of years. He lives in Maggie Valley N.C.. I am going to go by and see him soon My mother used to play cards with his mother and other friends. His mother passed away last year but my mother still talks to him at least once a week. Is going to be great to see him again.

Going to Asheville NC today I felt very safe as all store employees and shoppers had to wear masks, plexiglass barriers at all checkouts kept the clerks safer. I shopped better knowing that my chances of catching the virus or being a silent transmitter were reduced by 17% or more due to face covering use. At a local TN strawberry farm one virus positive but symptom lacking employee gave the virus to thirty seven others in the first week of business. My local business that carries my pottery has masks for sale and hand cleaner as you enter the store. I like to think it is helping to keep our little town safer. The virus can carry twenty plus feet with a sneeze, and can remain airborne for fourteen minutes. Lots of people can pass thru that air mass in fourteen minutes. Masks are easy to wear and would help keep you safer.

@@jay90374 , yes, we have a choice, but if it possibly helps both the wearer and others, why wouldn't you do it? I don't like them either, but it's a very small thing to do for your fellow humans. Just like the signs on shopkeepers stores and restaurants...No shirt, No shoes, No service...we should just add No mask for a few months. Small price to pay. Anything else is selfish.

The concept of wearing a mask, or taking precautions, is subjective. It's a fact; a virus spreads from person to person. As a consumer, I'm watching every dollar and reducing my discretionary spending. It's a new world. My life, my time, my money will be spent with those that at least try to take precautions. We all have a choice. I know mine.

We had an old buick just like that. I was born in 54. I made many trips in that car laying in the back window above the back seat. No seat belts back then. If Dad stepped on the brakes too hard I fell into the back seat. I've never forgotten that car.

In Detroit, USA, a 1956 Buick in good shape sells at auction for anywhere between $18,000 and $25,000. Our car collectors here in the USA covet the old Buicks. Finding one in decent shape is a lucky find. The color is an American dream.

My family used to take the train from the south to Boston to visit my grandparents. We would take a diesel pulled sleeping car to Washington, DC, where it was parked in the yard behind Union Station until dawn. It was than hooked to a an electrically powered train for the remainder of the trip through the Northeast Corridor. Overhead power was not just for big cities, Alex. Our freight trains in the south were still running on coal powered steam through the 1950's, and those cinders were everywhere! Electrification ended that early in the densely populated Northeast.

The white stuff on the Lionel trucks could be what's called zinc pest. That's bad. Some castings were Zamac metal, and after the war some had impurities that caused it to discolor, crack, and often crumble. Clean them carefully and check them.

We just found out our Montreal cruise in October is being cancelled, so maybe we will make it to Edmonton this year instead, if tourist travel across the US/Canada border is allowed without a 14 day quarantine. I really want to see your part of the country but realize it would only be possible if it’s deemed safe. Fingers crossed. All the best to you and the family.

Wonderful day, open! The sign is amazing, great job by the artist! And that case does resemble a casket, somewhat to me, but mostly it’s super cool. Had the wide end been round- then definitely but he scalloped edges add a different shape and feel. Give the outside the appropriate conditioner and it would come to life probably. Perspective, different for each person. Like the pin as well.

In the town where I live is a historic building. It’s been hard for businesses to stay there but one thing the city has kept up is the ghirardelli chocolate mural on the side. Those classic murals really add to the charm of a town.
