Awesome, Rob and Deane! I just did it: First, I had to find a white flashlight, and after thinking... I realized phones now come with them, and quite white, after they are a "flash" for the camera, so they have to be white! Then, I put a little of milk in a glass, I went to a closed room without windows (in my case the bathroom)... but it didn't show the effect... Then I just diluted the milk-water, thinking maybe it was too much milk, as Rob suggested in the video when he said "don't overdo the milk". It still didn't work, I diluted it again and it worked AWESOME! It's a very real effect.

Nice that you did that! It's so fun to do those experiments by yourself. Even as an adult! Also with the information Rob gave, why do you think clouds are white? (There is also a fun experiment to show why's that.

That was a wonderful explanation, showing the colors opposites to each other with the color wheel was very smart and made the all thing makes sense, first time I actually really understood why the skies looks orange at sunset. The only thing that might would have improved the explanation is to dim the studio lights down when showing the glass of milk and flashlight, but it's not a problem, just go back 35 years back and re-shoot it again, you do have a time machine made out of rubber bands, sticky tape and a box of matches, right?

Lighting is tricky with this one. It also doesn't show the milky water as blue as it is in real life - Rob

So based on the understanding that the color something is is due to it reflecting light of that color, say orange for instance, why is it that if you shine light through an orange pane of glass, you'll get orange light on the other side? Why would it not reflect the orange and only let other shades of light through, resulting in blue light?

It’s the lie-to-children-principle: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lie-to-children The explanation is not correct, but it helps to understand the next, more accurate explanation. That doesn’t change at university. One of my professors said „In the introduction courses you‘ve learned how to build CPUs. Now, in the advanced courses, you‘ll learn why we don’t do it that way.“.

@@recentlyrezzed1726 When I was at uni, during a Maths/physics module my lecturer told me to forget everything we learned at school as it wasn't correct. So I've certainly come across the principle before, just didnt know it had a name! ✌

Used to watch this all the time as a child. Now that I know better and know Gods word. God spoke of separating the waters, so we look at the Firmament with water behind it, hence the blue sky. When the torch was shone on the side, you have a blue background. Of course the fluid in the glass will show blue. Just a little annoyed how science shuns our creator.

Oh FFS! Stop showing pics from an imaginary/ fictitious region known as "outer space"... I want the curiosity show to demonstrate gas pressure WITHOUT a container... Or anyone for that matter
@Gnrnrvids2 жыл бұрын
you do get that gravity, the force that holds you onto the earth also holds the gas in a relatively very thin layer to the earth? The depth of that layer is what provides the pressure, same as for water.

@@Gnrnrvids there is no outer space... Can't have gas pressure without a container or the gas will fill the available volume... THIS isn't a concept, but a gas law...
@Gnrnrvids2 жыл бұрын
@@MathieusTheWalkingWitness No. It is your failure to understand the concept nothing to do with gas law. At the scale we can observe in an experiment in a building on earth that genrally holds true, but at the scale of objects where gravity is the overriding force acting on things it is different. Again. What is the pressure of outer space? Humour me and pretend it is real.
