Honestly I would have made the best supporting performance nominees just the main cast of Rebirth. John Eric Bently and Suzie Yueng absolutely blew me away. Even Max and Brit killed it. More than any of the other games I played this year. Maybe Strohl from Metaphor

A wonderful time for FF VII Rebirth. Well deserved every single award that it got and it should have won that Ultimate GOTY award as well but Wukong got it sadly (I really don't think Wukong is THAT good to be honest). After a year full of "bad" news and clickbait titles from the media saying that Final Fantasy is a complete failure and Square Enix is almost dead, this is really amazing to see Rebirth getting the love and passion that it deserves... I just hope that TGA Rebirth get's it's time to shine to let everybody to know that is a masterclass videogame.

Played Wukong to 100% completion, sure it was good but nowhere near as good as Rebirth was. Extremely laggy on ps5 too, downwards of 10fps at times. But besides the performance I liked it, solid 8/10 👌

Rebirth was a failure though. It only sold 2.5M and caused Square to drop Sony as a partner due to low sales. Objectively FF is in downward spiral again.

Regardless of the quality of rebirth, that mix was never gonna work. If part 3 releases with the whole trilogy multiplatform, we could have some great sales.

Also forgot to note Helldivers 2 surprisingly won console game of the year over Rebirth then later on Ben Starr said the difference of votes between Helldivers 2 and the runner up was just hundreds of votes which is crazy since Rebirth placed higher than Helldivers 2 on the ultimate game of the year.

I think Suzie Yeung should be nominated for best supporting actor in part 3 in the future. I think her performance for Yuffie is often overlooked or overshadowed by the other performers, but she really does such a fantastic job portraying Yuffie. Every line is so well delivered and she adds a lot of much needed light heartedness to the cast.

Way to go, Square Enix! And congrats for Briana White for winning BEST PERFORMANCE! Amazing job! When she performed in Remake, I didn't like her at first but I warmed up to her quite quickly and now she's my favorite actress! I almost cried when she said this as her character, Aerith, which is my favorite quote from her regarding Sephiroth: They...Their words...they don't reach him. All these moments and memories, precious and fleeting... they're like rain rolling of his back... And when they're gone, he won't cry... or shout... or anything. I think she literally broke me when she said in Rebirth so comforting, 'Cloud...it's okay...'

I wouldnt have thought it before hand but I'm really happy they changed things up and made it all new again. It makes it just like the original in that. I ended up loving way more than I thought I would. Glad they're getting recognition, I just hope that Square pay more attention to the quality the game offered than it's supposed not as good as hoped sales, as I think if they continue with evolving this style of FF it would grow, they need to take a longer view, it will take 3 consistent great ones to rebuild that instant buy reputation they had in the Squaresoft days and this one nailed it. Best FF since X or PS1 era, I don't that's even controversial.

But in terms of story, it's 90% the same. They gotta set an imaginary line that doesn't allow Remakes to cut corners. If the idea of the game is to retell a story... then it shouldn't get nominated for storytelling. If FFVII won storytelling in 1997 and the Remake wins in 2024... that would retarded. No different that if Elden Ring wins Game of the Year in 2022 and it's DLC in 2024.

This isn't a remake, it's a sequel to AC and practically a reboot. It changes way too much about the OG story. Frankly, the storytelling is worse than the OG, but I can't really find any AAA games this year that exactly knocked writing out of the park, either.

All I can say is a big congratulations to Square Enix and the developer team for FF VII Rebirth, Briana White and Cody Christian for the well deserved Golden Joystick awards. Rebirth coming in 2nd place for the Ultimate GOTY just goes to show that it is a big hit with the public and not just the critics. A public vote against a Chinese game is more or less impossible to win. The Chinese are very good at supporting their own and there's nothing wrong about that. Black Myth Wukong for me is a fun action game, with beautiful graphics and good music. It's not GOTY for me but I can understand that for some fans it is. I do think it is good that it gets the recognition it does, then we might see more good games coming out of China in the future.

It was CS3 first single player game and for some in the team since 12, and they did a great job for their first time and plus most of the budget went into the Eikon fights. Can’t wait what they’re gonna do for their next game even though it’s a smaller scale Rebirth team had Remake to build off the formula. CS3 needs to do just that

Two complete different divisions of SQE: - CS1 (Rebirth): is made of people who worked on OG7, 8, 10 and 13. Back in the PS1 era they had a culture of making exploration and minigames part of the gameplay loops of their games. - CS3 (16): is the team made of people who worked on 11, 12 and 14. Exploration and minigames have never been the focus of these games, sadly for us... That's why 16 low key (HIGH KEY if you're an FF14 player) feels like playing some FF12 maps with FF14 dungeons with cutscenes in between
