00:00:00 - Episode 7: On the outskirts of a rural Nevada town, Scott and Zuzana live behind 10-foot chain fences; not to protect themselves from intruders, but to protect intruders from their surprising pets. Dave and his dog Alice have an incredible bond, but Alice is no ordinary dog; she’s a dingo, Australia’s largest apex predator. Join us in Ken Foose’s Exotic Pets Store, Las Vegas, where you can find everything from ferrets and hedgehogs, through to snakes, giant spiders, scorpions and venomous lizards.
00:43:52 - Episode 8: Getting a 500-pound lion to do what you want is no mean feat; getting that lion to do what you want repeatedly and on-cue requires a very special talent. In this week’s episode we’ll learn the tricks of the trade from respected animal trainer, Steve Martin. We’ll also meet the Snake Man of La Perouse, a suburb of Sydney, Australia. His family have been treating visitors to the area to an amazing snake show for more than 100 years. Did you know that the mysterious and extinct Tasmanian Tiger was once kept as a pet? It’s closest living relative, the Tasmanian Devil is now highly endangered, is domestication the answer for this snarling whirlwind of teeth and muscle?
01:26:49 - Episode 9: Join our crew up close with elephants! This week’s episode takes you inside the elephant enclosure at Charlie Sammut’s Monterey Zoo. The largest horn circumference on record belonged to Woody, a Watusi bull from Bar G ranch in Utah. His left horn measured 40 inches around - that’s a waist measurement! The Watusis’ impressive horns are highly prized and highly dangerous. Seeing the aftermath of exotic pet owners who don’t properly care for their predator pets inspired Bobbi Brink to open a wildlife sanctuary and bring Lions, Tigers and Bears to Alpine California.
Predator Pets - Alligators, snakes, wolves, bears, and more, these deadly pets offer an adrenaline-pumping experience you just don’t get with a poodle. Have some pet owners crossed a line by keeping these wild animals in their homes? Predators Pets investigates extreme pets and the danger-factor that their owners see as a positive rather than a problem.

🤔 How ‘bout….NONE!? This should be ILLEGAL! In every country! What quality of Life do these animals have serving as an “exotic pet”?? For real. Spending their days (lives!) pacing a small cage…being led around w a chain around their necks….having a RESCUE DOG (!!!!!) as a companion!? The conditions that Scott & Suzanna provide these animals is an utter DISGRACE! It resembles a road side carnival! These poor cats! What a Life! To be exploited by IGNORANT rich ppl! DISGUSTING!!! 🤬

It seems that time given, affection, and care are correlated with reciprocal behavior on the the part of the animal. Perhaps the same is true of us, with each other.

Tigers were never meant to be domesticated. Try taking an actual wild tiger outta the wild and see how that goes. These huge, wild cats did not ask to be kept behind a fence in the middle of a desert. They were built to hunt all day, not be a lap pet.

Shocking cruelty , such ignorance from these people. Why on earth are they allowed to adopt dogs, then dump them in small enclosures with an animal of a different species. In most countries this whole set up would be illegal.

The sign said, "No stupid people beyond this point." - yet stupid people live there!! Yes, I know they are trying to help discarded pets, but these animals do not look happy. It breaks my heart that not only are the animals in those enclosures that are far too small, they are overweight and bored. It is the people who think they can have these beautiful creatures as possesions in the first place that gets me so mad. The woman at the end with the lions tugers and bear sanctuary had some sense. I hope more people learn from her.

Some people will buy a python then 10 years later have kids but the python is now big enough to eat the kids. So you really need to think about not today or tomorrow but later down the track when the animal is getting to a large size and what you want to do in your life in that time

So true. I had a ball python for many years, but when I got pregnant I figured that constrictors and newborn babies don’t make good roommates. I was lucky enough to re-home my snake to a respected wildlife center, but people should closely consider all the aspects of getting an exotic pet before making the commitment to be responsible for the animal it’s entire life. With respect for the animal, I won’t get an exotic pet again.

😢 I agree so many of these should not be kept as pets. The Dingo should not be kept as a pet I understand with the albino dingo as he did not take it from the wild someone else did then he stepped up and rescued it he could not thek release it. The venomous snakes etc should not be kept as pets, I have two snakes legally (non venemous) from nieghboure they arem't in small csges and I am planning on much bigger enclosures. No big cat should be kept as pets.

Suzanna and Scott I don't think should have these exotic animals as pets. They are NOT over sized dogs Scott.. And putting them on a leash right away as training. They walk them yeah but they don't get to run and be free. Did you see how fat and over weight the female lion was in the beginning. I didn't see one patch of grass for them to walk on I bet they all have bad joints. Compared to all the other people and facilities they are in the bottom, hey someones gotta be on the bottom, and this is just my opinion we all have one!

Yes. Almost all wild animals in captivity are obese and unhealthy. They are overfed, and need adequate space to run, jump and rocks and trees to climb on. What they do is not for the animals. It is for themselves. They are selfish and both have compulsive / obsessive disorder among other things.

Hello from Ontario Canada, A bear is a bear, maybe not today or even tmrw, i pray for all trainers but there comes a day that the bears will show that person what a bear is and can do. Its the same with all exotics, that truly should be left in the wilds. Something in them gets switched on, like switching on a light and at that point, and there will be that point that you can have huge pockets of treats, its not going to care. Theres a fine line with exotics that they will show their true nature. God bless.😮

There are not that experienced, for one. the woman is walking with her back to the tiger. that is the first big no-no. you learn about the panther breeds. If you can not put these cats on land where humans do not need to ever touch them, then you are not qualified to take care of that animal. keeping those big cats in cages is no good, they need large pieces of land 5 acres per cat. That is even on the small side. I bet they charge people to see the cats. that is not for the love of the animals.
@tonyprice2256
@tonyprice2256 11 ай бұрын
I agree with everything you said. I would love to have a big cat or two, but never will because i know i would never be able to provide adequate space for them. I would want them to have at least 100 acres of mostly wooded land for them to run around in. And that would require a few miles of 20 foot very strong fence to contain them. That will never happen. I am happy with the two smaller cats who are my best friends and have way more freedom of movement than those poor obese big cats who spend most of their time in small dirt floor cages.

Why don't these majestic cats have large areas to roam free within an enclosure? It's obscene to have these magnificent creatures being lead about, at speed, less than a dog, cat or human pace! It's so belittling, humiliating and vile to not let them have large enclosures where they can run free and play. They are taken care of but at what expense to the animals freedom. Horrible. Xx

As an Aussie in Queensland I've seen dingos on Fraser Island & in the bush as well as in Thailand. To me dingos are just older ferals which have destroyed many ancient native animals on the mainland. Dingos never reached Tasmania so certain species survived the feral holocaust. Feral cats are an issue here like feral hogs & foxs along with rabbits. Something I have noticed with our native birds is that they are moving in their traditional range. I see certain native birds & feral birds (starlings etc) that were considered southern birds are now in my area.

Kudos on a pretty balanced documentary overall... That said,, I wanted to note that the snake the Australian gentleman is handling at 1:00:56 is a diamond python, which is a non-venomous Australian species. I own some exotic reptiles as pets, all of which are captive bred and would not be considered "dangerous". There are many animals that fall under the catagory "exotic" but can make excellent pets. Many small non-venomous snakes, lizards like geckos and bearded dragons, and some amphibians as well can be very rewarding to keep. But as with any exotic, there is a lot of research that you have to put in to house, feed, handle, and care for them properly. With the right care, even a crested or leopard gecko can live 20 - 30 years and they can be much harder to rehome than dogs or cats, so make sure you are in it for the long haul before committing to owning one.

@@jazzyvestin1498 This is a good point to bring up and applies to people who own cats and dogs too. I have a folder in my reptile room that reads "emergency instructions". If myself and my husband will be gone for an extended time, I let the pet sitter / family member know about it. This includes records on all of my animals, sex, species, age. Feeding / care routines, and information on rehoming. None of my immediate family is inerested in reptiles, so my current plan (and what is in my folder) is to contact my local state's reptile rescue..they are a branch of my state reptile club and I have instructed that the animals be given / donated to them including all of my equiptment, housing ,etc.

People should be REQUIRED to submit a continuity of care plan, just in case something happens to them! What happens if you have a heart attack? Who takes care of your tiger? What happens if you get into a car accident? Who takes care of your tiger? What happens if you die? It is stupid to have states where this isn't required! People lose homes, cars and bank accounts. What happens when you can no longer afford your tiger? There's no thought process given to this and it makes no sense!

This is abuse and these people need to be treated as just that animal abusers. I have yet to see one documentary about people who own exotic animals and it always tirns into neglect abuse and some kind of tragedy. I hate all of this leave the animals alone. This is evil!! Scott is ignorant!!

Its equally as disturbing to see overweight big cats as to see skinny ones. I'd bet they overfeed on purpose to make the lions less athletic and more docile. It's sick either way.

Hey tigers a little bit different than a chainsaw a chainsaw doesnt move and doesnt have teeth unless u plug it in. What you should have said when somebody says something like that is have you seen our property I don't think you should be walking him on the leash with people around but hey

Walking tigers on a leash to give them exercise?? These animals belong IN THE WILD. Tigers need to prowl, stalk, run and swim! Walking them like some sort of circus poodle is so embarrassing. They’re all overweight and unhealthy from not being properly active.

Being a snake enthusiast I noticed the first look of the snake was a ANACONDA. THE snake that ate the baboon was a Rock (Burmese) python. Who does your editing? Need to do your homework.

why as an exotic pet owner would you be fighting against regulations? these are the exact type of people that are the reasons we need these laws in the first place. these people are neglectful hoarders & they’re mad that we care about the well being of their animals & neighbors, not the type of people that deserve to even have these kinds of animals. if i had an exotic animal that required extensive care i would be more than okay with jumping through whatever hoop necessary to have my deadly being. same argument for gun owners. if you possess a potentially deadly unordinary object or animal, it’s totally no brainer that you should have to have that item regulated & registered.

The folks can get mad BUT if they have no habitat in the wild they will have to stay in captavity or they will die out. Simple as that. Like it or leave it

He says Dingo’s don’t make good pets but he is human just like all of us. If he can manage his Dingo, than any of us can and should be able to put in the effort to do so if we can give it the proper environment and care. Including Ferrets. I sell Ferrets in Japan.

What a stupid analogy about risk taking from the pet store owner. It's more about protecting animals than humans from themselves- at least I hope so.

This is not admirable. These animals require space that these people are not able or willing to provide. If you truly love these animals it requires you to not be selfish and do what is best for them, not for you. Comparing these animals to car or tool ownership is stupidity at best. My chainsaw lacks a will of its own and lacks instinctual needs, same with a car. Wake up and stop being selfish.

Alice looks leucistic, not albino. A little confused by some of the contradictory statements such as 'Dingos are domestic dogs that have gone wild again' and then also 'Dingos are wolves'. No. Wolves are wolves! Also said was dingos are social, but then he says that don't "need" you to socialize with them. There were a few other statements that seem to be contradictory but those stood out to me the most Perhaps the reason dingos are so misunderstood is exactly because observations are made on so-called domesticated dingos and not fully wild ones, but I'm just a person watching KZbin so what do I know, lol 😅😅😅

😢from an aussie, they are meant to be social with eachother not with humans, they are classed as a type of Wolf, Dingoes were never fully domesticated the Aboriginal brought them to Australia thousands of years ago, hwd a sorr of relationship with them but not like we have with out pets. The Dingoes on Feaser Island and generally the only purebred wild Dingoes as the ones on the mainland have bred with domestic dogs that have been dumped and bred outta control so have gone wild and they interbreed with Dingoes.
