I'd love a video on figuring out hair color tones for different skin & eye color tones! I'm pretty fair with dark brown eyes & naturally medium mousy brown hair that photobleaches (very blonde-y curls in my often outside childhood). I have done blonde, dark brown, caramel blonde highlights, mahogany main color with orange-y copper highlight, & orange-y red with copper highlights. I've found my favorite is the coppery & orange-y reds & my 2 fave hair stylists have done super well to help figure tones among those orange-y colors that look natural (well, if that were natural) on me. P.S. Amanda's hair turned out super pretty!

I have a long curly shag; been wearing versions of them for years, because they work so well with my thick hair and curl pattern. Due to COVID I'm cutting my own hair now, as so many of us are, and my rockin' shag is all thanks to a youtube tutorial from Free Salon Education with Matt Beck, my other online hair fix. Check him out- he's fun to watch and is an amazing instructor. I would much rather see my beloved stylist, but at least my hair can still look good without her for the time being. Well, except for the color. Coloring curly hair is best left to experts, and even they've screwed up my hair! kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5eolmyfn5yoZ80

First of all, it's not dumb at all! Hairstylists are super important. They help people feel better about themselves (usually lol), they help fix hair and many times are someone's therapist that day. I usually use a low poo with c betaine about once a week, and then about every 6 weeks I use a sulfate shampoo that is meant to clarify, usually after I go to the salon so I dont have to worry about build up from those products either, and then I use a hair mask for at least 30 minutes, and I dont notice any issues.

Amanda's hair is pure GOALS. BTW I have a few topics it'd be great for you to address: - Fairy knots (single strand knots) These are the bane of my life and usually what causes me to give up on my hair and do crazy things to it. They are worst around the nape of my neck and get so bad the whole bottom section of my hair is perpetually knotted, feels awful and never grows because I end up trimming the ends to help with the fairy knots so often. My most recent solution was to dread the bottom section of my hair (yes that is literally how bad it gets back there), but three years on I have completely grown out bleach/heat damaged hair and am ready to try embracing my curls again, so I am brushing out the dreadlocks. It would be great if you had any information on how to deal with fairy knots so I don't end up getting crazy and giving up again! Note, this seems to happen even when my hair is healthy and not heat or colour damaged and has been trimmed recently. - Choosing colour! Would definitely love a colour video about choosing what natural colour options suits your features - I was born a redhead but like Mell my hair has changed and is now more an auburn to dark blonde. I would love to know how to bring out the natural red tones in it without opting to just dye it red. - Choosing hair styles I am hoping to go for my first curly haircut in about 5 years soon, but I have no idea what to ask for. My biggest issue is I hate having my hair in my face and I'll often go to the effort of styling it out to look lovely and curly, then within a few hours I'll be scrambling for a hair tie and dragging it up into a bun to get it out of my face. I also have a job/lifestyle which means I don't often get the opportunity to wear my hair down for safety reasons, so 99% of the time my hair gets shoved up into a birdnest bun and forgotten about because I have no idea how to wear it any other way, or cope with it when it's down. I don't know if theres a curly style which lets me enjoy length and volume (like Amandas amazing hair in this video) but encourages the hair to sit off my face? Bangs terrify me as I already hate having hair in my face (funny since I defo went through the side fringe faze during high school) and I also had a bad bangs/short hair experience in the past which left me looking like Annie the orphan (google it if you don't get the reference). I don't think short styles suit me and I found it to be higher maintenance because I couldn't tie it up or braid it when I didn't have time to style it properly. - I asked on your recent video about styling for volume and big hair, but you never answered - is it sustainable to always style your hair for volume using the routine you recommended, or is this something that would be better for a one off/special occasion? I prefer big hair/volume but I worry that I'm going to be encouraging frizz and compromising the long term health of my hair if this is something I do regularly.

@@blktauna If I can mix a warm brown shade, I will be happy. The last 2 years I use maybe 3/4 blond henna and 1/4 "brown" - but the final shade is still to cool red for my warm complexion.

@@lenka156 Interesting! Have you ever tried just pure henna instead of "blond henna"? Pure henna is quite warm! And you can always add some indigo to make it more brown.

@@mirkwoodFaerie Yes, the first years I used just pure henna. But my hair was every time darker and "bordo". My natural color was around 6 or 5. So I started to mix it with blond to lighten it. When I used henna with indigo, it also gave me that colder undertone. It was never chocolate brown. Just on my greys was it orange. :-) So I was thinking about some other natural colors, that I can mix into henna. ( I tried curcuma, paprika, black tee... Sometimes it was great caramely brown after coloring, but with every washing the cooler undertone came out. I was thinking about the water too. We have hard water here. I don't know...)
