So I did this and it turned out great!!! Some key things..my natural color is a level 5/6 so dirty blonde..My ends were already very blonde from getting highlights over the years. 1. I bought 40vol processing solution, after researching I found that b/c I’m already a dirty blonde I would need 20vol processing solution. So I diluted my 40vol to make 20vol.. 1part distilled water to 1 part 40vol. 2. Thin sections when highlighting is key so you don’t end up with patches here and there. 3. I completely foiled and then let it process for 30-35min checking and pulling out foils that looked done. My hair is on the thick side so I had around 10-15 foils 4. I let my root tap process for about 10min and my toner process for 4-5min. This was my first time ever doing my own hair and I was so hesitant but I practiced on some bottom sections a day or two before I did the top. I’m not a hairdresser at all and was scared but the results were so amazing!!

I have been watching your videos for a while now and decided to leave a positive comment that will hopefully inspire others to try this at home. Because it works! For reference, I’m a natural brunette with long voluminous hair. I had the balayage done a few years back and paid $350 to get my hair so damaged I had to do a long Bob. Because of covid, not being able to go back to the salon, I found myself experimenting at home. First mistake I made, I tried henna. I KNOW!!! Trying to go down the healthy route, BUT, I’m past my 30’s with grays on my sideburns and dark tones just makes me look older. SO, I decided to gradually get rid of the henna by getting regular trims, doing clarifying shampoos and color correcting at the salon to get the green/blue tones off. As you all know, these color correction sessions can get very pricey. Now that I only have 2-3 inches left of the henna (green/blue tones) left at the ends, I headed to a Sally store and bought “Quick Blue bleach by L’Oréal with 30 developer and did a few strands of baby lights, keeping a slide in between and weaving the second slide I bleached, not touching the roots at all, a couple in the back for when I pick up the hair, a few at the crown on both sides for parting in the middle, and a few up front diagonally for framing the face. I left it for about 30 minutes to get a light honey color. Washed the hair and blow dried the roots. I followed up with AGEbeautiful 7A with 20 developer for a root touch up, waited about 30 minutes and added Wella’s T18 mixed with the T27 and 20 developer to the entire hair and waited about 20 minutes then washed and did a deep conditioning treatment. I couldn’t be happier with the results! The colors blended beautifully, no brassiness on the root or mid shaft sections, and small amount of very pale bluish on the ends from the old henna. I let it air dry about 50% (to minimize damage) then gently blow dried and cut about an inch off. I only spent $37 of product and still have bleach, toner and developer left!!! Thank you for taking the time to do these videos, very educational and helpful!

This is literally the only video I found where someone does permanent colour on the roots + highlights … I have really dark roots naturally and it’s so hard to find a technique online since everyone just does root smudges with semi permanent dye which never lightens my roots so there’s always a contrast between the blonde and my root colour. Thanks for sharing this video and this method. ❤️❤️🙏🏼

and... just as a matter of interest - what do you do to prevent your brown from running through the blonde hen rinsing the root color???? There’s lots of videos on KZbin showing you how to do the tape ins yourself. I do my whole head myself and it’s pretty easy, it just takes a while to do. It’s best to stick the tape onto the part of the hair you want it, press it on, then lift it up. Kind of switching it upside down. Pull the extra hairs out that got stuck to the tape that don’t need to be in the hair sand which. Then put the other tape on top of the first tape, press firmly, then flip all the hair down again and do a straighter press for 2 seconds to bond the glue to the hair :)

So I just did this today with all wella products. My base color is basically the same as hers. I used only demi because I don't like how red my hair is when I use permanent color. The demi works well enough for now until I get more gray lol. So I did a Wella demi root with 6N and 8A. Then Wella bleach baby lights. Then Wella 7n root tap (demi permanent), and a 10A (demi permanent) toner. It turned out great! I am happy with the color.... But I really need to work on my foiling skills. Also, I need to get my mids and ends lighter in general. I am struggling with what I should do without frying off my long hair. Maybe I'll just keep highlighting and toning the roots and the slightly darker mids and ends will just grow out eventually.

That’s what I need to know. I don’t have grey either so do I use the 6NN anyway mixed with the 8Ag? The 6NN is for the grey coverage but does it also change the color of the 8Ag some?

Thank you for showing the extension removal. I have not been able to see this process anywhere! I am considering getting tape ins too. Your hair looks great by the way

Yes true, I don't think I have see close ups of extention removal often. I debated whether this would be a boring thing to watch but in the end I though it will be best to show the whole process.

@haleysperbeck59723 жыл бұрын
@@Healthyliving.ruby1 I have no idea? But any brand in those exact colors should work just fine, Ion has great colors, Wella, Redken!

Excellent video! I also appreciate your honesty in both your hair and your approach to coloring it. It would have been a little better if you would have shown/instructed viewers to take each highlight foil out separately before rinsing instead of sliding them off all at once through your hair because unfortunately this is how some stylists do it to either save time or are lazy and it can cause damage. I used to have my hair colored a bright, buttery blonde, but have since let it grow out to an extremely long "classic" length brown. No extensions needed! I am much happier and my hair is much healthier.

Question : I used to be blonde, 6 months ago I asked my hairdresser for my "natural brunette" color. She didn't dye my hair too dark so I could still deside afterwards (go darker or not). Now my hair is graduate washing out and my mid section and ends are golden, like a ombre. I really need to color soon to refresh. I have decided to go back to blonde and going to attempt highlight myself, since I'm on a budget😅. Can I bleach the midsection again to lift evenly? Or only my outgrowth? Appreciate any tips❤
