So I did this and it turned out great!!! Some key things..my natural color is a level 5/6 so dirty blonde..My ends were already very blonde from getting highlights over the years. 1. I bought 40vol processing solution, after researching I found that b/c I’m already a dirty blonde I would need 20vol processing solution. So I diluted my 40vol to make 20vol.. 1part distilled water to 1 part 40vol. 2. Thin sections when highlighting is key so you don’t end up with patches here and there. 3. I completely foiled and then let it process for 30-35min checking and pulling out foils that looked done. My hair is on the thick side so I had around 10-15 foils 4. I let my root tap process for about 10min and my toner process for 4-5min. This was my first time ever doing my own hair and I was so hesitant but I practiced on some bottom sections a day or two before I did the top. I’m not a hairdresser at all and was scared but the results were so amazing!!

I have been watching your videos for a while now and decided to leave a positive comment that will hopefully inspire others to try this at home. Because it works! For reference, I’m a natural brunette with long voluminous hair. I had the balayage done a few years back and paid $350 to get my hair so damaged I had to do a long Bob. Because of covid, not being able to go back to the salon, I found myself experimenting at home. First mistake I made, I tried henna. I KNOW!!! Trying to go down the healthy route, BUT, I’m past my 30’s with grays on my sideburns and dark tones just makes me look older. SO, I decided to gradually get rid of the henna by getting regular trims, doing clarifying shampoos and color correcting at the salon to get the green/blue tones off. As you all know, these color correction sessions can get very pricey. Now that I only have 2-3 inches left of the henna (green/blue tones) left at the ends, I headed to a Sally store and bought “Quick Blue bleach by L’Oréal with 30 developer and did a few strands of baby lights, keeping a slide in between and weaving the second slide I bleached, not touching the roots at all, a couple in the back for when I pick up the hair, a few at the crown on both sides for parting in the middle, and a few up front diagonally for framing the face. I left it for about 30 minutes to get a light honey color. Washed the hair and blow dried the roots. I followed up with AGEbeautiful 7A with 20 developer for a root touch up, waited about 30 minutes and added Wella’s T18 mixed with the T27 and 20 developer to the entire hair and waited about 20 minutes then washed and did a deep conditioning treatment. I couldn’t be happier with the results! The colors blended beautifully, no brassiness on the root or mid shaft sections, and small amount of very pale bluish on the ends from the old henna. I let it air dry about 50% (to minimize damage) then gently blow dried and cut about an inch off. I only spent $37 of product and still have bleach, toner and developer left!!! Thank you for taking the time to do these videos, very educational and helpful!

Silvia please answer my question! I'm curious when watching these videos. I know you say not to overlap the bleach on already lightened ends, but it looks like you dont cover the lightener on all of the strands, and it looks like there would be a dark banding halfway down your hair. Why is is that there is not dark color banding? Just curious. I'm not a stylist so I don't know these things. Thanks!

I wondered this too. It looks like she's only slightly modifying the regrowth colour, so the part she's not doing may be already colored enough from the last time she covered regrowth. Also she talks about grey coverage, so perhaps that is also the reason to only cover regrowth rather than over processing previously dyed stands.

There’s lots of videos on KZbin showing you how to do the tape ins yourself. I do my whole head myself and it’s pretty easy, it just takes a while to do. It’s best to stick the tape onto the part of the hair you want it, press it on, then lift it up. Kind of switching it upside down. Pull the extra hairs out that got stuck to the tape that don’t need to be in the hair sand which. Then put the other tape on top of the first tape, press firmly, then flip all the hair down again and do a straighter press for 2 seconds to bond the glue to the hair :)

So I just did this today with all wella products. My base color is basically the same as hers. I used only demi because I don't like how red my hair is when I use permanent color. The demi works well enough for now until I get more gray lol. So I did a Wella demi root with 6N and 8A. Then Wella bleach baby lights. Then Wella 7n root tap (demi permanent), and a 10A (demi permanent) toner. It turned out great! I am happy with the color.... But I really need to work on my foiling skills. Also, I need to get my mids and ends lighter in general. I am struggling with what I should do without frying off my long hair. Maybe I'll just keep highlighting and toning the roots and the slightly darker mids and ends will just grow out eventually.

I was wondering why you choose permanent color for your roots instead of a demi. In some of your previous videos you talked about shades EQ colors for roots. What factors can help me determine which is the better option for me? I have been using demi for my roots but I am starting to get greys that peek through pretty quickly. Would that be a reason to change to permanent? Wouldn't that make it harder to turn around and bleach it out right after for highlights? Can I still get bright highlights? Thanks.

Because she has grey hair in her roots. She’s uses a double neutral (6NN) to cover those. The root tap at the end is with a demi to melt the colors all together and make it have a finished blended look.

Question for all the hairstylists out there… I recently got “caramel” highlights that came out a bit too light and warmer than I would like. They were supposed to end up more of a reddish brown, and it came out more of a golden dark blonde. Can I tone to make it more cool? Or color over it with a cool toned brown? Thanks ❤️

I’m trying to get your hair color and cut…what can I ask a hair dresser to do to get to your style & color? Thanks so much!! ❤

If you were doing this on brown hair initially, would you put the first color on the whole thing?

Wao! I die my hair and do all kinds of things, but have never been brave enough to do highlights. I’m going to try a couple of foils to see how I do.

Best diy I’ve seen definitely most realistic with her starting point and how she does those baby light foils. Turns out beautiful though. Looking forward to more videos

Omg you have so strong hair😍 i have so fine hair that i use only blondme with 2%. Beautiful color ❤️ hairdresser from Finland

Being from Finland and having finer hair your hair probably lifts really well and is less resistant to lightner. Pros and cons to all hair types.

Ive always had keratin bonding extensions but i want to know you opinion. Are they worse for the hair? I want to get new extensions soon. i have pretty short hair. So i would only go for a bob. Which extensions would be best?

Hi, pls could you explain why you’d use toners on blonde hair that fades quickly rather than using a permanent colour once you’ve bleached? Thanks
@Boudicaisback3 жыл бұрын
because when you tone you only want to deposit color not lift
@SweetCarolineeeee3 жыл бұрын
Did you use olaplex with the lightener?
@es53273 жыл бұрын
She doesn’t like using olaplex anymore ... she says it’s harder to lift the hair later when she uses it . I think she used a redken product alternatively when she said that in an older video .

Hi there and thank you so much for doing these! My colour is very similar to your but I haven't been able to get 6NN Natural Natural do you think I could use 7N Mirage instead? Would it be dark enough to cover the grey?

Can you make a video showing how you got the blonde grow out you started with? Do you have a section placement technique for your own hair? Especially present day with your more sandy beige balayage?

Hey , do you use olaplex at any stage of this process? Love your videos and just your vibe ! So calm :)

I absolutely love this color but idk how to get the bottom so brightened first if I’m starting from scratch with all my hair the same color as your roots 🥺 and to get the dimension like you have with more brown mixed in at just the top and more all over blonde lower. Pleaseeee explain how to do that lol

How can I remove a toner? I used a too dark one and I don't like it at all! I want a lighter one and i hope I don't have to wait until it goes away in a few months

Claryfing shampoo. Head and Shoulders, etc.
@nancywhipple4803 жыл бұрын
Make a shampoo cap. Bleach and shampoo mixed equal in a bowl. Wet hair towel dry and massage into the hair only for a few minutes it should lift the dark toner to a higher level.

Silvia You make the foil application look sooo easy! I have tried before on myself and is not, your application look as flawless as id someone else was doing it on you. About the tape extensions, is there a particular brand you can recommend? Do you normally bleach them and tone them to match your existing highlights? Thank you so much, was a great video!

Before I ask any questions about the colouring I really need to ask what colour lipstick you are wearing please!!! It is beautiful and you are stunningly gorgeous!!

Hi I love your hair and the colours you do are amazing I always do my hair myself and put the foils in first then go in with the root colour as it’s quicker and your not overlapping with the blonde on the dark roots again . I don’t think I would get such a lovely bright blonde over freshly applied dark tint. That’s why I go in between the foils with the root tint altogether.

How long does the toner lasts? And how often do you tone it?
@kellbelle22292 жыл бұрын
The Redken website says the Shades EQ last 4-6 weeks. It probably also depends on your hair type/condition, how often you shampoo, type of shampoo you use, and how much sun your hair gets.

Hey! I have a question. I have medium neutral skin tone, more towards the cool side. I currently have blonde highlights. The problem is my hair is too ashy.. where it appears more grayish indoors and when I’m outdoors it appears too gold. Both colors I hate. Lol, I despise brassy colors. I feel I need more of a beige blonde color. My roots are Med to dark brown. I have brown eyes. I have a pixie cut with fine hair. Please give me suggestions...🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Gorgeous. I’m wanting to go blonde again. I haven’t been blonde since high school when my amazing hair stylist used to do it. Now he’s big time and charges WAY too much for me to go to him. Cheaper to try this myself. So curious, what do you recommend for someone with dark hair like mine?

how much of each color did you mix together for your roots?

I love you videos and been watching you for a long time , I have couyof question what is the root color brand you used ?? Also in some of your videos you used 6n for root tap and here 7n what’s the difference??? How long you leave it on before you put the all over toner Regarding the toner in some of your videos you mixed 9t , 9v , 9p but today you did just 9p which is better, and if am trying to refresh my color after couple of washes would it work a d give me the same color as the first time after lighting?? Or it has to be right after lighting only ? If the bottom of my hair are not as blonde as I want do I but it in the foil or not to avoid damage? How do I know that’s my hair is ready to wash when lighting with bleach and not leaving it to long and get damage from ?? Can you do a video on that . Thank you so much in advance
