Hey! I’m half middle eastern and didn’t know until I was about 14. My mom kept it a secret and lied to me about my biological father who is from Iran. I always thought I was Puerto Rican and didn’t understand my hair texture or why it wasn’t like my mom’s hair. I have the same exact hair texture as yours and I really can relate because I couldn’t find someone who wasn’t either black or Caucasian with curly hair like mine. It’s wavy and curly at the same time but also very prone to frizz when being brushed. You encourage me to wear my hair out and curly/wavy instead of blow drying it straight every week. Your hair is beautiful and I just wanted to let you know that seeing your video has encouraged me to accept my identity. Thanks so much!

Hi, I wanna share a progress which I made with help of info Michelle gave us. I am a girl who stays away from products. Learning that I need to use so many products for my curls to look good made me a little sad. While watching her videos she mentioned about aloevera gel being helpful to hold the curls and how we need to experiment to what suits our hair. I have low porosity 2b curls. I have very soft hair so I realised I don't need a lot of moisture but just something to hold my curls. So I tried to just wash my hair with a herbal shampoo, keep a conditioner on for about 10 mins. Then do Michelle's squish and scrunch method for a few mins. Then i took some aloe vera gel from my plant, added a little water and blended it so that it comes in serum form. I applied it to my damp hair with praying hands like she said and then scrunched it. Then wrapped my hair in cotton tee for 20 mins and air dried. The results were amazing! I could see beautiful shiny curl clumps properly separated from each other. (My hair get very frizzy usually when i wash hair with just shampoo). But the diluted gel worked like magic for me. It held my curls for a good 4 days (after that i washed my hair). Only issue I faced was that my hair becomes flat if i don't keep them open 😅 Hope this helps someone!

Very helpful video Michelle.. I have a concern though.. On wash day, I usually wash in the night - is it a good idea to sleep in a bonnet when my hair/scalp is a bit damp or should I wait for it to dry completely? 🤔 P. S: my #shortcurlyhair takes an hour to dry!! 😭
@MichelleManuel4 жыл бұрын
I tried overnight styling and I got sick because my hair was wet in the bonnet. I woke up to dry hair and sotc-ed. Hair looked great however. Many curlies out there actually wash their hair and let it dry in the bonnet overnight. They wake up and SOTC. Some will wash and air dry hair at night and style in the morning after dampening hair. So the answer here is experiment! Different techniques work for different people! These techniques are never a one size fits all.

Hey Supriti! This is a once a week affair. You can't be doing this everyday. Let's say you wash your hair every x days. When you start following a curly hair routine, try to stretch your wash days out by going from x to x+1 days. After 2 weeks go to x+2 days in between washes. Slowly slowly build on it to make it so that you wash your hair only once in a week. Have a look at my playlist on beginning cgm. You'll find all the other relevant info there.

What does scrunch out the crunch mean.?
@MichelleManuel2 жыл бұрын
I have a video where I talk about all the cg terms. Also have a routine video where I explain each term. Sotc or scrunch out the crunch is the last step in the routine where you break the gel cast by scrunching.

Is loose braid a good option ? I just started out 1 week back watching your videos and damn my hair feels so soft. P.S. I Started using Mayonnaise mask after every 2 washes and it made my hair feels so soft and revived my dull looking brittle dry hair and I'm so loving it.

That's amazing. You can do a loose braid too. ❤️
