Would you recommend this shampoo & conditioner for low porosity hair? I’m still struggling finding that moisture/protein balance and worry I’m adding too much protein. Thank you so much.

My transition phase has been so frustrating to me, I also have a lot of damage and other products (including high end) so far have left my hair producty and so dry. After one use of the conditioner and gel from this line (plus the weightless air dry cream), my hair was like a sponge soaking up the products, and it was so airy and lightweight. Maybe I should go in with more product next time but I wanted to try the products out first. I’m having high hopes for my next washes! I already ordered the shampoo as well so waiting on that! Thank you so much for your content, it’s helped me tons ❤

I’ve been using the bond/protein treatment product since it launched and I swear by it. It not only tightens and strengthens my curls, but it moisturizes them quite a bit! I also use Olaplex and I prefer Curlsmith. I just got the gel and I’m excited to try it out! I also use their protein styling cream. I skipped purchasing the deep conditioner for now. I’m pretty conscious of not adding too many protein rich products to my routine as my hair has a tendency to dry out quickly and too much protein only makes that worse for me. Your curls look beautiful!

thanks for the demo. I recently ordered the bond repair, conditioner and aqua gel and am waiting for their arrival. I usually order first time products from Ulta because if they don't work for me I can go to the store and return them with no return shipping. If they work on me, I will use your discount code next time. Have you tried using the agua gel without other gels over it?

Yay! Hope you love them! I’ve only tried it layered with the soufflé so far.

Luckily I found your playlist. 😭 I’m always confuse on what products to use first since there’s milk, cream, mask, gel mousse etc. it was intimidating. But I just chopped off my hair. From waist length to chin length cause I was so frustrated yesterday. I went to a saloon to try and colored my hair because I’ve gotten grey hairs since my hair is so damaged 😭😭 But the hair stylist was so mean she keep on nagging and scolding me saying I didn’t brush my hair and I should have just get a rebonding treatment because straight hair is easier to handle since I can’t seem to take care of curls. I told her so many time that I did comb my hair but she is so insisting that I lied because my hair is so tangling and puffy. After she’s done with washing my hair she blow dry it straight 🙄 Tried to persuade me and suddenly talk nicely so I would do rebonding, haircut and treatment from her. Heck no so I went to a different saloon for a haircut. But even with short hair it’s so puffy 😭😭
@GenaMarie3 жыл бұрын
Wow that is terrible. I know it’s so hard to find a stylist that works with curls, but it’s much better than someone who just pushes straightening because they don’t know how to work with curls. The lack of training for curls is astonishing in cosmetology school.

How does this liquidy gel compare to the Ouidad climate control gel? Similar consistency/results?
@GenaMarie3 жыл бұрын
Very similar consistency! I love both formulas and my results are very similar. The Curlsmith one doesn’t have those humidity-blocking ingredients though but on the other hand it’s more water soluble
@kateri173 жыл бұрын
If only Curl Smith would cut down the fragrance by about 75% I would consider trying these. I've tried some of their other products and the scent is absolutely overwhelming and it's not a great scent either. My scalp was itching so badly. I returned. I don't know why companies do this with the scent overload. 🤷♀️

When you're talking about applying the conditioner, you mention that you've never gotten a drying feeling from the proteins. This is a thing? I tried the Blueberry Bliss line by Curls and noticed this weird stiffness from using their shampoo and conditioner and thought it was a bad batch or just my hair. What other products have done this to your hair?
@GenaMarie3 жыл бұрын
Yes protein ingredients can cause a brittle, dry feeling on your hair if it doesn’t need protein or if you need to clarify because you have a build up of protein

Hi Gena, I am having a VERY hard time getting my hair to not lose all its moisture once I'm outside for an hour!! I live in Vegas and once I do my hair it will look amazing and so soft and bouncy but then after I'm outside all the moisture gets sucked right out of it!! I have ecoslay products now and I was using curlsmith Feather light then the souffle but I just can't get the moisture to stay in!! I guess it's because it has GLYCERIN which is a no go in the desert! According to mymanebio I have low po at roots and normal po from mid to ends and fine low density that is over moisturized and needs protein.. I'm so frustrated cause I just washed yesterday and today its all tangled and dry from being outside... How can I get more moisture in it and lock it in without having to shampoo? Please help me 😕 Ps. Sorry for the Pic icon but yes my dog has his own KZbin channel LOL 🤣
@GenaMarie3 жыл бұрын
Are you familiar with film-forming humectants? I know it's tough to find a gel that only has film-forming humectants and not any regular humectants like glycerin. The Uncle Funky's Daughter Curly Magic Curly Stimulator comes to mind because it's glycerin free, but it does contain regular humectants like Agave Nectar and Nettle, but perhaps they're not as strong humectants as glycerin. It also has aloe which is a film-forming humectant. Here is the link: rstyle.me/+cPNKE6LqauJ3Myr__SnyYA

@@GenaMarie I am going to try adding a few drops of argan oil to my leave in and also at the end of styling and I'm hoping that will seal it all in and keep the moisture?? I would love to be able to still use curl Smith and ecoslay products! What do you think? Other option is to use the Ouidad climate control gel which I havnt tested yet.... If a product has humectants and film forming humectants shouldn't that be good? Like work together to lock it all in?

Could I use jojoba oil as my oil that you said to use before you shampoo and the CG routine?
@GenaMarie3 жыл бұрын
You could, however it wouldnt be ideal as jojoba is purely a "sealing oil" so it cannot penetrate into the har, making it better suited as a finisher after you style. Most all other oils are partially penetrating so they will absorb. Jojoba may be tough to shampoo oil as it just sits on the surface.

Is there a big difference between the rehab salve and the deep conditioner since they both have protein and bond repair?
@GenaMarie3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the Rehab Salve is a much stronger treatment and has more of the bond repair, whereas the deep conditioner could be used more often. The Rehab Salve is applied as a pre-poo and then you shampoo and deep condition after.
