How would u compare that new CurlSmith gel to the Innersense I Create Volume? Are they both about the same texture and consistency?
@GenaMarie3 жыл бұрын
Yes very similar consistency but the Curlsmith one is more of an actual gel that provides hold, and the Innersense doesn’t. The Curlsmith one gives a cast

As much as I think the natural curly hair looks really lovely, it is extremely hard work and very expensive to maintain, my hair is naturally curly from Birth but over the years with busy lifestyle have used hairdryer and straighteners, tried going back to the curly hair style found it loads of work .
@palladium6072 жыл бұрын
Yes it is a lot of work when you are transitioning from years of straightening, coloring your hair and using other heat like curling irons, etc. But once it's healthy it's actually easy to maintain. I use water to refresh and only have to style my hair 1-2 times a week vs every single day
@rachellep25813 жыл бұрын
Love this style of refresh for day 3 and 4. When my hair may be tangling or frizzing but is overall clean and not requiring a shampoo.

I loveddd today's videos, and i was wondering if you could do a video about how to take care of curly hair when you're a hijabi. (us curly haired hijabis are struggling)
@aminas313 жыл бұрын
i'm not a hijabi but i am muslim and would definitely recommend getting a silk or satin lined undercap, so that your hair doesn't get frizzy. also keep it in a low bun or protective style that's not too tight, and don't tighten the hijab too much because that can actually cause hair loss and receding hair line

I HATE that "scalp smell". I typically wash my hair twice a week, and sometimes on day 3 or 4 I get a quick whiff (like if I lean down to pick up my pen at work, then pop up real quick) and the smell reminds me of a hat that needs to be washed. But I'll smell my hair and my hair will either smell good or have zero smell (depending on what products I used on wash day). My scalp won't even be oily - in fact, my scalp is dry.

Interesting video and very informative as usual Gena, thank you! In a previous video you mentioned you weren’t sure how steam refresh would work for you -well watching this it is very similar to your misting bottle, except that by putting my curls in the steam, only the thirsty parts absorb the water and curl back, then I apply a pea size amount of styler like you and a short diffuse and I’m good to go. So I would say it’s an even quicker version of this as I do not apply ‘’too much’’ water anywhere, my hair absorbs what it needs if that makes sense? It’s been a game changer for me! Also you can multitask as hands are free while you steam 😂

Yes! I also can't detangle my hair when it's wet no matter how much conditioner is on it. I don't know how they all do it...

I have kind of a long question. I know it's good to try to avoid getting our hair wet regularly bc of hygral fatigue and the raising and loweringof the cuticle. So let's say it's a day I don't care about how my hair is looking. My scalp feels good. But my hair looks dried out. Is it better to wash it ( and maybe deep condition), refresh it to add some moisture back, or just let it as it is (as I don't care how it looks). My question is what option would be the healthiest?
@diana40433 жыл бұрын
I wash every 2 days and i just rock a bun if my hair doesn’t cooperate:). The most I will do is grab about 6 sections total on top layer of my hair- wet and use curlsmith mousse. Also, on wash day, I’ve started detangling on dry hair as well👍🏼👍🏼

Curious why you didn't just do a wash day since it is so similar minus the shampoo and conditioner. I thought refreshing is supposed to be fast and simple and avoid damaging hair. No judgement, just trying to learn. Thanks!!
@GenaMarie3 жыл бұрын
In the video, I explain how it still saves me time because shampoo and deep conditioning take extra time, and when I wash my hair it takes longer to dry because the hair is saturated to the roots. Whereas when I refresh, the time is cut in half and it doesn't take as long to dry because the hair is just damp.

Hi. My refreshing attempts rarely turn out the way I'd like them to. I usually do refreshing only when I need to go somewhere unplanned and my hair is a mess. I feel like it's too much work for the results that do not last and hair needs to be washed asap anyway. Thank you for all the advice, your hair is very similar to mine and I find it that it works for me well. Only trouble is, i live in Europe so i cant always get the product you re recommending. I recently started using Olaplex and was thinking of getting Kerastase hair mask, the blue one for thin hair. Have you tried that one? Id like to hear your recommendation for Kerastase, which mask would work best.

It takes the same time then you hop in shower
@GenaMarie Жыл бұрын
For me, refreshing takes less time compared to rewashing because the hair dries so much faster and there is not the time of spent washing. When I refresh, my hair is just slightly damp and not soaked. I only need to diffuse for about 5 minutes. Whereas on wash day, diffusing takes long since the hair is fully wet. Hope that makes sense! Everyone is different but wanted to share my experience on the time differences.
@Palmundo913 жыл бұрын
Might as well just wash and have a clean scalp and clean hair. Literally takes the same amount of time
@GenaMarie3 жыл бұрын
It usually takes me an extra 15 min or so to fully wash my hair, so for me personally it still saves me time when I’m in a pinch. Also sometimes people need to restyle due to a bad hair day or something but their scalp isn’t necessarily dirty yet.
