Your comment on the hold of UFD vs Curl Maker had me reflecting on how my hair responded when I first started using UFD and how in love I was with my wash n go. At that time, UFD didn’t have glycerin as the second ingredient and that has made a drastic difference. It’s gone from a one product wash n go to a “base” for me sad to say. And as you mentioned, the curl maker is great but I’m not paying $20 for a box of Frosted Flakes lol. That being said: Your videos have made me fall in love with the actual method of the wash n go again and is inspiring me to try new product combinations and further enjoy the time I take on my hair. Very refreshing ♥️

Relaxing wash day session as always. You did not over manipulate your curls. Gorgeous result! Given how beautiful your Day 4 curls were, I would have rocked that wash and go for another couple of days.

Hair looking ah-mazing!! Skin on Glow too. Don't comment as much if I see the vid to late because you have thousands of followers now 🎉😁 keeping you busy. I actually ditched the bonnet and started sleeping on a satin pillowcase and it has helped my hair maintain better. My hair is more stiff/coarse than yours and it just prevents the hair I'm not sleeping on from flattening. Anyway keep it going. Loving all the new content ❤️

I think the only difference I noticed when you applied the topper is you separated (kinda shingled) slightly more but I think with the way your hair was clumping that made sense. I find mousse clumps my hair the best but I also get some “webs” of hair where I can look at an area and see the defined curls connected but a few strands that hair that look like a web.
@BrittanyMia
@BrittanyMia Жыл бұрын
“Webs” is a great descriptive word for it. I feel like I have to do a lot more working in the mousse or the opposite, and being really gentle with it by just kind of glazing it over my curls. It has to be one extreme or other lol until I learn a different way to apply it.

A great wash session. I didn’t feel you over manipulated your curl. I was watching while under the dryer. Thanks for sharing this combo. I finally go to try the felishia brush (my sister lent me hers). It’s really good . I feel it does a better job the the paddle denman. I still like the denman. The Felishia brush is out of stock for a long time (problem of distribution). I tried a new combo both ecoslay gel . The Jell-O shot gives a hard cast (it will be great for summer time )
@BrittanyMia

The distribution issue is unfortunate for sure. I love that brush, but it’s really inconvenient that it’s always out of stock. I’m glad you got to try it. I want to purchase the mini version on Amazon to see if it works better than a bigger version. I believe it’s in stock there.

This wash and go looks great!👌🏾The best styling foam I've found to work for my hair is Texture ID. I try not to do it too often, but when I don't feel like doing my weekly wash day...I use the Texture ID foam to restyle my wash and go, and it last for another week. It gives me great definition and shine. I may have to revisit the curl maker. I did not like it when I tried it a few years ago. The flakes were too much, and I didn't get the moisture that I get with UFD curly magic.
@BrittanyMia

Thanks! I’m always so confused when people tell me they restyle their wash n goes without doing a complete reset. I think it’s because I feel like I can get product to build up, but thank you for sharing what works for you! Yeah, I’m going to make the curl maker work because I really like it, but time will tell if its a keeper.
@rachelm.3173

@@BrittanyMia A mousse or foam is great for restyling because it reactivates the products that are already in your hair. I can never style my hair in a wash and go with mousse alone. It's just too light-weight for my strands.

Brittany I feel like your hair is a hit every time!probably because you more or less know what absolutely won’t work for your hair. Can’t wait to get to that point where I’m like “yeah/nah”. I tried CR Spiked Honey Mousse and Wetline and it was flake city from the moment it dried. Luckily, it helped me to use up the gels in my stash and I just purchased the Curls Blueberry Jelly. Hoping for a better turn out with that. I can’t wait to use up more of my stash so I have a reason to shop for botanical gels.

I be wishing so hard for more density but then see yall with your beautiful density wash your hair and totally reconsider.. 🤣 I greatly enjoy my 1.5 wash session.. Thats shampoo, detangle, condition, style, and dry.. This was day was so relaxing to watch though.. I didn't realize the difference in formulation with the salon size UFD.. But you are absolutely right.. I use FAR less product in the salon size.. I hadn't put 2 and 2 together until this video.. 😅 I also didn't think there was any over manipulation.. For me, I have to do a lil extra to make my mousse lay how I like.. I haven't been able to figure anyway to give my hair body other than to blow dry at the roots to stretch and pick a little bit.. The way my scarf and bonnet combo works it doesn't really flatten my style.. My texture will fluff back to how I styled it within a few minute of taking my scarf and bonnet off is what I mean..

I’m working on lowering the amount of time I spend on my wash days, but so far I cannot get it under 3 to 4 hours. I know that if I decide to not spend an hour deep conditioning, that would save me time, but that’s just such a necessary step for me. I’ll get there lol thank you for watching!

I was doing the gel and mouse combos, but I think I'm going to go back to the camille rose. Her gel tends to work best with other products. I just started using the rosemary collection and the leave in for my wash and gos.

The camille rose curl love leave in or the new Rosemary leave in. I feel like I got more moisture with the new leave in. The Rosemary leave in from the collection is also clear and a gel like consistency and pairs very well with curl maker IMO.

To preserve my wash and go, I put 5-6 sections in loose ponytails using satin scrunchies then a bonnet on top and that usually keeps my shape. Just remove the scrunchies and shake+use your fingers to help loosen the hair in the morning. Try that. Works well for me👍🏽

Your hair is so beautiful. Question: is there a reason that you deep condition under heat for an hour twice a week? Have you tried not doing so for a week or two and just do regular conditioning and see how long it takes your scalp to beginning itching. Jenn Jackson on KZbin had the same issue. But when she stopped doing those deep condition regimes, she can go at least two weeks before seeing a little flaking. Very nice video. Thanks for sharing.
@BrittanyMia
@BrittanyMia Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I deep condition under heat mainly because the showers at my apartment don’t stay hot for over about 15 to 20 minutes. And that’s with me turning the water on and off. If I’m washing my hair I’m going to have to get out of the shower anyway, I figured I might as well deep condition. I also find that regular rinse out conditioner can do the job, but a deep conditioner makes me feel more efficient during my watch day, because my hair feels better afterwards then it would using a regular conditioner. I’ve tried many high-quality, regular conditioners, and they are great, but I’m on a routine where did conditioners just make more sense. Since I get out the shower anyway.

Interesting results. Like you when I use a mousse on top it gives a more kinky/afro look. It didn't look like you were over manipulating, just that you separated wet more. Did your set dried quicker with the mousse? I had the same issue with curly magic, so to remedy the excess, I just tap the whole thing with water after application and micro plop before drying.
@BrittanyMia
@BrittanyMia Жыл бұрын
I feel like it dried just a little bit quicker. Because I still had a good amount of botanical gel on it that was keeping it from drying as quickly, but I noticed it does dry a lot quicker when it has a drying agent on top of it, such as mousse. What is micro plopping? Lol
@Erika-lv6lh
@Erika-lv6lh Жыл бұрын
@@BrittanyMia micro plopping is basically using a microfibre towel or a tshirt to gently (to avoid frizz) squeeze out the excess water and product from your hair before using your dryer. This usually cuts down my drying time à lot

With a wash and go, you only need a Shampoo, conditioner and gel. Some people add a 4th product - a topper gel (based on personal preference). So not understanding how doing a twist out uses less products or cheaper. 🤷🏽‍♀️
@CoilyCode

Wash n go products aren’t event that “special”. The same products you use for wash n gos you can use for any style. And products you use for twist outs, you can use on a wash n go. There’s not that many marketed products with the label “for wash n gos.”
