Just five minutes ago bought 5lbs of Shea butter and then saw this video pop and was like NOOOOOOO! Immediate buyers remorse before even viewing it, thinking you would recommend something else. My hair literally changes the second I put Shea butter on it! It immediately softens my hair and smooths down my frizz. I loveee it!! Ladies just an FYI a lot of the shea butters that claim to be USDA certified aren’t! I was double checking through the USDA integrity database to verify claims. Sharing for those of you who care...

blueangel1985 I don’t mind at all...I ordered from a company called Mary Tylor Naturals, it’s my first time ordering so I can’t speak on quality. I just know they were certified on USDAs integrity site. They are on amazon but their site has more options and the shipping was the same price so I just ordered directly from there. However, what I can stand by is my fav company to get herbs, oils and butters is Mountain Rose Herb, their shipping (If order is under $75) is hefty but otherwise their quality is awesome and I appreciate the companies integrity. You can visit their site and read up on their fair trade practices and all their organic certifications. I do not work for them lol. I’ve just been a fan for years :) I would have ordered from them but due to Covid-19 they are closed. I hope that helps!

Oh wow!!!! I am really loving the vibes of uour channel! And I also love the idea of the P&P method. I feel that my hair's porosity (LOW LOW LOW) and my texture (kinky) are reasons why the loc method and other variations as well as moisturizing and sealing methods are reasons why my hair always felt dry. Due to the chemical structure of penetrating products and non penetrating products, i feel that this makes sense: penetrating product, moisturize, non penetrating product! I'm gonna try it! Thank you again!!! And I love butters, but I don't have an absolute favorite for my hair. Soooo....I will have to say peanut butter lol. But shea butter and cocoa butter are amazing for my skin. I tend to avoid butters so I haven't bought very many. But if I have to choose it'd be between Shea or Cocoa. Shea might win bc its easy to find where I live, its affordable and doesn't require softening to scoop out. But I do really like cocoa butter bc once you manage to dig it out of the container and emulsify it it's much lighter, less greasy and it smells better than Shea butter. Tfs. Valuable info.

I believe many more black women may have this and not know. For many years, my hair never grew and I didn't know why. It was obviously breaking and I was using hair products with alot of aloe vera and coconut oil. I know now to avoid any hair products with coconut oil in it. Which means lots of reading on the back of bottles and jars. Luckily being a scientist helps me out.My hair will also turn brittle snd straw like if I leave them in too long:rice water ,aloe vera, henna and amla, bamboo etc. But it does love honey, avocado oil, light butters and milky leave in moisturisers. Thanks so much in advance. From a cousin also in STEM!

Thank you so much for sharing. I have had dry hair for a long time.. snap, crackle and pop... Lots of people have told me try this and that or their natural hair product? Only to find out it did nothing for my hair. Just because it is all natural does not mean it is the right chemistry for my hair. Everybody has a formula for their hair and you have saved me from wasting more money on products that do not work for my hair texture. I now understand what I have been doing wrong. PMP method makes alot more sense than LoC/LCO!!! II say this because it does may it CLEAR the actual purpose of products for each step. I have high porosity hair and penetrate is a must for me, because hygal fatigue. Hygal fatigue is actually real because in the summer, I was constantly spraying my hair with water to give my hair a moisturized look and it would dry again and snap easily, also I would add oils like grapeseed oil thinking it is penetrating but it was really protecting. Currently, I am using Belle BAR organic products such as onion and garlic oil, and BBO argan oil butter, adowa baomint oil, grapseed oil and now avocado oil. How do I create a hair regimen using the PMP method for my hair regmien such as pre poo days, hot oil+deep conditioning and my leave in steps? Thank you so much!!

I like hair butter for my fine, high porosity strands the best. Hair grease is too oily/greasy for me due to the fact that I have to be a little heavy handed with my products to fully protect my hair. Butters can be oily too but I find that butters (Shea is my absolute favorite) works extremely well on my hair due to the fatty content. I use 22nd Century natural hair products and honey, they are the best thing that’s EVER happened to my hair and it’s black owned and family operated. I use her shampoo bar, deep conditioner, herbal hair pomade and her twisting cream and my hair has been in the best shape of its life. For a leave in, I use Lush Super Milk Conditioning spray. Omg, not only does it smell heavenly but it leaves my hair extremely soft and moisturized. I spray on my hair and slather on my hair pomade. Moisture for two weeks I promise you!
