The funniest hair rumor is how people explain the mechanics of the “squish to condish” method for me lol. People say the squishing motion “pushes the water into the cuticle” or “forces the conditioner to work with water” and hydrate the hair or whatever but that’s just ridiculous. The reason it works is that you can’t properly rinse off the conditioner with this method- so you’re automatically using your conditioner as a leave-in.

Nooo don't do that! I also have low porosity, very fine low density hair. I use a little of the smoothie then gel on wet hair after washing for my wash and go styler but as an alternative (and I use it as a day 2/3/4/5 refresher spray) mix about 1 part of the shea moisture curl smoothie to 4 parts water in a spray bottle and shake it up a lot, and it makes a really really good lightweight styler! This works because the smoothie is also water based- the first ingredient is water- like a conditioner. So you can water down lots of products and turn them into a spray that way!

I enjoy seeing my growth and have taken to banding two sections to motivate myself to go past my nipple length while I learn how to keep my hair healthy as well as getting wind on my scalp. I can’t use bands because that’s where my hair breaks but without them my hair mats close to my scalp…and it’s back to protective styling. I’m working on something that includes clay to define my scalp curls. If I could ask for only one breakdown/tutorial video…I’ve recently become secretly obsessed with hyaluronic acid powder for hair but there is literally ZERO VIDEOS about how it works for our hair and how to incorporate it into a diy in effective percentages…if you would be the first, please

What a great video! My fave leave in conditioner is Shea Moisture JBCO Leave In Conditioner. When it comes to the rinse-out conditioners, I don't use them anymore; I have replaced with the "deep conditioner". It just seems like I'm overdoing it with both, when the two products have the exact ingredients. I've come to learn that it is either/or for the conditioners. A rinse out conditioner may be enough for someone, who just "wants" or "needs" a light conditioning to the hair, considering their hair texture, i.e., the 3A-3C range, but for my type 4B/C hair, the deep conditioner works the best. Now I combine the r/o conditioners I have with HYDROLYZED WHEAT PROTEIN to perform my protein treatment, then do a deep condition. Thanks again for clearing up the difference. The rumor I've heard was from miss Mississippi. She said natural shouldn't be using conditioners at all . Washing & leave ins. She said she only uses head & shoulders shampoo to wash her hair. Than apply grease on her hair, she said that's what grew her hair🤔. Thank you for your good information today. What are your advice to Mississippi teachings? I want to get my hair in its healthy natural stage. Any advice for me. Thank you for this excellent video.

Like 20 yrs ago when i was in High school, before my mom let me get a relaxer... i used to use conditioner and gel for my wash and gos ( we didnt call it that back then lol). But when i went back to natural in 2010, i had heard rumors that leaving conditioner in the hair can make it too soft and “rot”. What they meant was moisture overload. So i stopped doing it. Im gonna try it again because my hair used to coil so well when i was a kid.

Is it good for conditioner and shampoo to have oils since oil are sealants and so it’s seals in moisture before you can add other moisture such as leave in and other oils and butter?

Thanks for the information. ☀️ What I am hearing is that a leave-in is not necessary at all. When doing wash n go’s if you look at the instruction of some gel, Cheers Gelato for example, it does not mention a leave-in. Stylists use the uncle funky gel as the First step and then top it with another gel, but no leave-in. Wondering what you must look for in a styler to ensure that if you do that it all turns out well.

Thank you😘. I can't find an affordable leave in in my region and when I do the ingredients are worse than the rinse outs. I heard a Rumour "Good Shampoos always suds" I hate suds, it causes me matting and puffy roots. My best are kids detangling Shampoos they have little to no suds but still clean my hair.

You can skip your rinse out conditioner and just make do with your deep conditioner and leave-in conditioner. However, if you still feel like you don't need a leave-in, you can get a styler that has water as it's first ingredient so as to seal in your moisture properly.

A rumor I've heard that giving your hair different types/sizes of proteins is good (kind of like a well balanced diet for your body)... is there any truth to that?

I don't have any specific brand preference at the moment. I'm using a cheap Brazilian haircare line.

Amazing video! My fav conditioners are Keracare Humector which is my deep conditioner. I also use the leave in by the same brand.

Favorite leave-in is Pattern Beauty. I would like learn more about bond builders. Several KZbin bloggers have been comparing Curl Smith to Olaplex, but they are being paid by Curl Smith. It would be good to hear from a chemist on this.
