Andy, the shawls are absolutely beautiful! It's like a little miracle so see three shawls that each look so different come off a single weave. And I admire your sewing skills as well. I tried sewing years ago but that little needle jumping up and down scares me. Thanks for a very interesting video.

I am NOT comfortable with the sewing machine either. That sewing room and machine are Judi's. I have learned just enough to put a hem on towels. What you did not see in the video was Judi showing me how to put that binding on, and standing over my shoulder telling me what to do, and more importantly what not to do, as I put the binding on.

Beautiful shawls Andy as always a great video. I love how we all know where our mistakes are in our weaving and we all point them out to each other. LOL. I can't wait for the guilds to start again when it's safe, I love seeing your work up close, the camera does a good job but in person is always better. Take care.

I too am waiting for guild meetings in person, where "show and tell" also becomes "touch and feel" of the projects. I've been attending the Wisconsin Handweavers Inc guild meetings via Zoom, and while it saves me a few hours of driving to Milwaukee, I think Id much rather spend the time to get to see things in person.

Love your videos! I FINALLY got my 8 shaft Ashford after watching your videos for well over a year. It's so nice to do 2×2 twill and all the amazing patterns. Thanks for the inspiration and happy turkey day to you. I hope you do another double with on the table loom soon! Ps- we call the edging "binding" in quilting.

The hardest part of any project is to get my wife to sew the hems for me. I learned that you can sew right across those straight pins with no problem at all.

I have, on occasion, broken needles while sewing over pins, so I prefer taking them out prior to sewing those areas, and taught him that.

As always, I love your weaving. It pains me, though, to see you struggling with that sewing machine. I can understand why the group doesn't want fringe, but perhaps you could find someone to do a close crochet edge, using the same yarn as in the weaving. If I lived anywhere near you I'd volunteer. Or maybe you could learn to crochet! Oh, and my high school home-ec teacher used to call straggling strands as "Christmas trimmings", and took off lots of points when we missed any of them.

Hi Liz, happy to hear you are getting a Spring II. I can't send a jpg file of the pattern to you in KZbin, but a quick search of FaceBook, for your name, and you have the same cute dog icon so I sent you a friend request on there. As soon as you accept me as a friend I will try to post it to your facebook page. Else drop me an email and I will return the pattern to you. my email address is: curmudgeon66 (at) gmail (dot) com

They are so pretty Andy. Why not finish them each with some Inkle loom edging? That would be pretty. Okay, why did you go back to the bubble? I never began with it. I tried but didn't work for me. I do my own method and my selvages are looking great. I really like the longer video showing the process you used to finish them. Why not take a video sewing class while you are in lockdown? Maybe if you paid Judi she would do the sewing for you...lol. But by not doing it she has forced you to learn...very wise woman!!! I am just happy to see a video from you. Thank you!!!!!
@curmudgeon66
@curmudgeon66 4 жыл бұрын
Inkle loom strips on the end might work, but are a bunch more work for me to do, and the commercial binding is just easier. As for the "finger poking" bubble, its because this yarn was quite "sticky", and when I tried beating on an open shed in the first of the shawls, I just wasn't happy, didn't seem like I was getting enough weft across each pic, was drawing in a bit too much, so I switched back for this project.

I know you are not monetized but are you aware that KZbin is now placing ads on our channels as of today, they sent out emails today and we can’t stop it from happening? It’s a shame to force their ads, maybe not our beliefs on our channels. I’m glad to see your weaving again. At least you can get monetized and choose the ads you don’t want.

Yes - I just received and read that bit of bad news from google / youtube. I'm not happy with it! I've been considering Rumble.com as an alternative, but I also hate the idea of starting all over again to build a channel. Still undecided about what to do.
