Seeing this pattern in colour, does make it look so much better, than the black and white photo in the book, nice one 👍🇬🇧

Great use of colour, I do wish they would do a reprint of the book with colour photos. I am sure there are other drafts that we pass by because it looks boring, the group helps with finding them and inspiration thank you for directing to the group

My oh my! Lovely towels! I think I like the black, red, white best. But the 2nd to the last, green, turq, yellow is beautiful too! I have had the same issue with leftover not being ,long enough. I am not the best seamstress. So I found a super simple potholder tutorial here on YT. They turned out great! If I could figure out how to post a picture on here, I would show you. Not very good with that kind of thing either. If I figure it out, I will post pictures.

Those are great Andy...as usual. Even though the pattern seemed dull at the beginning the towels are really lovely. I confess, I like the smaller multicolor one the best. Thanks for sharing that weaving journey. I enjoyed it.

Terry, you are my favorite non-weaving art critic. Thanks for watching this and sharing your thoughts. I wish I had tried the multi-colored one earlier enough to make it a full sized piece.

beautiful towels! I think my favorite was the 3 color one - the interlacement sure stands out, and I love the way the weft colors flip from one column to the next. This was a great project!!

Thank you for your videos. I've learned a lot from you. When you measure your project on the loom, do you release the tension on the warp first? I'm inspired to try these towels and looking for advice on how to know when to stop and start between each towel. Thank you
@curmudgeon66 Жыл бұрын
I do not release tension when measuring, I do realize that I will loose some length when I cut the warp off the loom and hem the towels. I used to make towels only about 26 inches long (on the loom), I now think that is too short, so I now measure towels in the 33 to 36 inch range, I just have come to prefer larger towels. I usually put one or two threads of something very contrasting in color between the towels so that I know where to cut the warp apart.

Wow! What a difference color makes compared to the black and white pictures. The colors really make the pattern pop out: almost like 3D. How did you keep the hem from shifting as you were sewing? I know the pressure from the presser-foot tends to shift the hems, and can misalign the stripes on the towel from the stripes on the hem. Well, should be having warmer weather this week. Thanks for posting.

First of all, your videos are great. I have a question concerning the draft. In the book, the dark colors are 6 rows of warp and 6 rows of weft. Why did you add another 2 threads in each direction? I wondered if you had a reason. I mean it looks great, but I had drawn out the draft in iWeaveIt, like it was in the book, and I noticed the difference when I did. Just curious about your reason to change it. Thank you for all of your hard work getting this out to us.
@curmudgeon66 Жыл бұрын
because I wanted thicker dark lines. I just thought it looked better when I drew it out using my weaving software - Tempoweave. I also made the individual color squares just a bit bigger, again because I like the look of it.
