Hi Kathryn! I was wondering if you could maybe do an update on your thyroid journey. Especially looking back on what things that you did/changed outside of the medical help you think helped most.. I have an autoimmune condition, a chronical inflammation of my thyroid and my doctor just tells me everything is functioning well. NOW. They are just expecting it to get worse over time and put me on medications then. I would like to do what I can so it doesn’t get worse though. Thank you, wonderful to see you again

I was unfortunately fitted in the wrong shape of Nikolay shoe for my foot, but I was refitted by someone in NeoPointe! I’m really looking forward to using them. The shoe I was originally fit in felt great until I sewed them

Your hair is looking glorious today! So shiny and those curls really suit you - I love this video because it's honest - and I love photo books like that - they look really nice , and I agree, I never stick to making albums of photos, usually because I can't find a nice enough photo album to buy in the first place hehe - I've been wanting to do some but wanted to see what they looked like in person- so this video was serendipitously perfect for that! And I also have a kate spade handbag and oh my gosh- I'm very careful with my belongings but I use it all the time and it still looks new I've had it since 2015 or 16 and it's so beautiful that I keep wanting to use other bags to save it but because it's so beautiful I just keep using it - it brings me so much joy. They're really well made and last really well 💗💖 The Pas de Deux series was so interesting and lovely I hope we get to see more things like that always from you and from Chris! Oh and I love your Disney ballet exercise videos - and all the outfit changes- you're really bringing the joy if ballet back to me and the truth of lots of It I was never taught- and with such a lovely healthy mindset, attitude and positivity that is the genuine truth of dancing. Thank you for being ao reassuring in your videos- I'm relearning it from you in the right way. I love when you reassure and say "no judgement, doesn't matter if it's 2 inches off the floor, you're here, that's how you build to it" and the knowledge like "this is how you build speed" "this is how you build your turnout/strength "etc etc etc. That truly does mean the world to me and I'm so proud you're doing such a lovely job at educating me, and all of us especially young dancers who need this reassurance and truth told to them too ❤ thank you eternally for that. She fit me in the stream pointes as well and they’re like the greatest shoes I’ve ever worn. I need a box liner because I have super narrow feet and don’t wear any padding but especially since I’m working on injury recovery they’ve been amazing and so easy to work with

Yay! Those are the shoes my daughter is wearing!! 4.5 xxx R shank. She was in an M shank but then she fell in love with her shoes after jetglued so Grace (Josephine’s mom) put her in the R. Yay!!!!!!!!

I’m so glad you’re back! The same thing that you talked about that each pointe shoe is different for each person and you have to choose what works for you, it’s the same thing when trying flutes; I for example play better with most of the Japanese flute brands (except for Sankyo and Yamaha) where as pretty much all my flute teachers (except for one who’s headjoint is from a Japanese flute company) all played on flutes from American Flute companies

Dry skin goes hand in hand with low thyroid issues. Generally the longer you have been on meds the worse it gets. You might want to talk to doc about Rx lotions with urea. Goat milk products can help many people because of an acid compound in the milk. Natural oils like jojoba, almond, or rosehip are also great. Happy what you have is working, but I love a back-up plan. (Not trying to stress you out and you might know already)

just want to add, sleeping with a humidifier can really help too. Also, moisturizers with a lot of glycerin can be great when it's more humid but can almost be more drying in dry climates.

A whole bunch of girls at my studio went to a fitting with Josephine when she was in our area and everyone got fitted in Stream Pointe, so now almost everyone is in the same shoe. I didn't go to that fitting and am sticking with Dream Pointe 2007 because I really need that shank as it's the only one that really holds up well for me. Sadly, everyone is having such a hard time finding enough pairs of what they wear and we are coming up to performance in June.

Also it's now readily apparent that not everyone should be sticking to Stream Pointe who was fitted in it as I'm seeing several people with creasing happening where it definitely shouldn't, one person definitely looks like the vamp is too low on her. Seems like maybe this shoe looks really good on many, many people when they try it on, but it has to be fully broken in to see if it really is a good fit. I wouldn't call myself an expert, just observing. Love to hear other people's thoughts.

Wow I'm surprised Nikolay works out for you... Can you still do demi pointe though? I had one pair of Nikolay and it was as hard as concrete. I was never able to do rolling up and down, because the shoes will always fall off from my heels... So I'm very curious how you can make Russian shoes work out for the American type of training.

Try StreamPointe or a softer shank in other models. There are Flex models with easy roll-through

Kathryn, Why are your dance partners ever black? I know there are black male professional ballet dancers that exist. I keep seeing people talk about diversity in ballet, but I am personally not seeing ANY action, except for Megan Fairchild. Megan at profiled and interviewed a couple of them. One Love

Likely because the dance partners that she is being invited to dance with are those she has partnered with before, during her time with NYCB. There are more black dancers now than there were when she was with NYCB, so things are changing!

Yes they "exist", but they are still in the minority. How many did Megan dance with? Might want to also check to see how many black people are in the _audience_ at ballet performances.
