I remember that Sugarplum vlog 5-6 years ago, I felt so bad for you. I did not understand how people could be so cruel. All I could see was how amazing you were dancing Sugarplum! But 6 years later here we are. Seeing you vlogging again and being back on stage, that is amazing! Let's make happy Sugarplum memories this year! Also, don't forget to buy new hairnets!

I love how relaxed you are. I remember old vlogs where even though it was fun, I could tell that you weren't 100% comfortable. Your get ready with me chit chats from the dress room are pure gold! And yeah, I remember the Nutcracker from like 5 years ago, and I wish that I could go back in time to show you this video and how things will change for the better (especially when I recall certain tears). And no, maybe you were a bit heavier then, but all I remember from that footage is talent and grace, nobody who truly cared about ballet and artisty thought anything about your weight. Anyway, keep this vlogs coming, they're highly appreciated.

I'm one of your KZbin class students, and I saw you at the matinee this afternoon at College Station. You were sublime. My eyes were stinging during the pas de deux- it was that good. I quit dancing 17 years ago and just picked it up again with your classes in April 2021, and I just wanted to thank you for bringing the joy of ballet back into my life.

You are amazing. In all ways, but right now I'm thinking of how you post a vlog during a 3-show weekend, out of town, while dancing with a brand-new partner. I stopped by your channel just in case, telling myself that there's no way you'd have a video up and that it would be unreasonable to expect it, just to find one half an hour from going live. Thank you for truly bringing us along with you!

I feel so so happy to have followed your journey and to see you back in stage and doing things with your career that a few years ago you wouldn't have thought possible makes me believe in miracles and there being a light at the end of every tunnel. You astound me every video with the light in your eyes and I wish for nothing but more success in your future. Lots of love from the Middle East ❤

I never comment on KZbin videos but I feel like I have to on this one. I was at this show, and messy is the last word I'd use to describe your dancing! And I'm a dancer, it's not like I'm an untrained eye saying that. Your performance was absolutely breathtaking, and getting to see you perform live was a dream come true. Watching you dance made me fall in ballet all over again. You should be proud of that performance and everything it represented. Much love!

I'm gonna be honest, I teared up a little when it cut to you on stage. As someone who started ballet as an adult and is healing from chronic illness, it was so encouraging to see that this is possible and that this is something I could do if I am willing to work hard enough 💗

High bun. I'm no longer a dancer-my studio was toxic, so I left after 8th grade. But still to this day, I do buns on the crown of my head. My hair is so long (past my natural waist) that a low bun doesn't fit. The lowest I can do is a center. And gosh, that tiara is GORGEOUS. I'm madrigal queen this year, and I can't tell you how amazing I feel in my crown. I'm sure you can relate, but I just feel so regal. Love you so much, and I'm so happy for you!🌹⚘ And that bald spot trick! Genius, I'm losing my hair at 18, and will definitely be trying that. Thank you, I love you, and good luck on your return to sugar plum!

Katie, I am beyond proud of every single accomplishment that you have shared with us over the years. But what stands out to me the most is your comment about where you were 5 years ago. You are SO much healthier and more mentally prepared now. You pushed through and persevered and now you are stronger and happier and it shows. Thank you so much for sharing this special journey with all of us. You are so generous with your time and your insights. I’m sure your solo was fabulous! 💜

Katie, You are so inspiring and encouraging for so many dancers. Plz know you are a beautiful person who has a beautiful asthetic a beautiful line and I could never have hoped to have performed or danced like you. I had one of those bodies that could never dance despite attending Al School of Fine Arts in 1980's. Period. No matter how much I stretched it never helped my arabesque. Had very large bunions and flat feet with no insteps. The list of issues goes on... Bulemia parties..starving myself... Nothing i did including the 200 butt rolls, sitting on my feet in an arched position and sleeping in splits for couple hrs every night after 2nd ballet class of the day would help me. It (dance) just wasn't to be for me. I regret trying to force my square peg into a round hole for rhe 1st 25 years of my life. I did somehow get a scholarship with Alphonzo Cata and Erik Bruhn while at University in Texas (after I officially gave up dance as a dream career option to my parents). I knew i wasn't going to make it but wasnt exactly ready to give up my dance body so I happily kept taking dance classes for exercise at Uni. Looking back, it all worked out as I ended up a Registered nurse for 30 years! I'm absolutely sure your solo was beautiful so don't be sad because it's so not about perfection. It's more about the overall beauty of the person doing the movement!😉😊💗

You did it!! Congratulations! I’m sure the audience loved watching you on stage. Sometimes the things we are most critical of ourselves over, the audience doesn’t even notice or place a value to. Often, we beat ourselves up for not living up to the standard/idea of the performance that we have for ourselves, but in reality all we really need to do is be ourselves for the audience. It’s kind of the difference between art as a product and art as a service. We worry about the perfection of the product, when really the audience just wants to be entertained and by you simply stepping out on stage, you’ve done more than enough. I guess what I mean is I hope you feel proud, even if the solo tempo wasn’t as expected ❤️

Ok so gotta say, I totally love you! I stumbled onto your youtube page years ago when looking for hair and headpiece tips for my dancer (11 at the time). While I was a competitive figure skater for years and things are similar, my daughter is a competitive dancer and I have continued to look to your good counsel and now subscribe to your channel (also advising my now 15 year old to follow suit). First of all the Clif Bar Duos were DEVOURED by both my dancer girl and her swimmer sister. Amazing call, totally going to get them again. Thank you for that suggestion. Second, the Ice Bath - the fact you hate it, the fact you recommend it and the fact that I (now a competitive triathlete) know it works. I love your honesty, your candor and your videos. Thank you for all that you do for the dance (and mom of dance) community. Merry Nutcracker season.

Just hearing about the monitors and music to tell timings reminded me of being backstage at the theatre my dance school used to dance at until I was about.... 9? so I did 6 years of dancing on that stage. There we had monitors (Plaza theatre, Stockport, Manchester, England). RNCM (royal northern college of music) there may have been monitors for the actual dressing rooms the eldest girls were in but we got changed in a literal lecture hall and would go on mini recon missions to the rooms outside backstage to tell where we were at and how many dances before we went on. Then we did some smaller shows at stockport college, terrible! Tiny stage, almost entire school in one sports hall all getting changed together, need for actual runners because there was no monitors and you couldnt hear the music from far enough from the stage for recon to even be a thing. We had our mothers talking and getting to know which girls did which dances so we knew which costume to be ready in when. Absolute nightmare but I still loved it. RNCM was probably my favourite stage but Plaza will always be nostalgic to me

I love these Christmas vlogs. You are so real and relatable! I love seeing the backstage of your performances- I am generally used to the teacher side of you (thank you for those lessons!!) but am glad to see the performing Katie as well. Helps me know some of the things I feel or think about while backstage aren’t just me😂

So glad you are doing Sugarplum again. You have *lots* more dancing in you and I hope you'll continue performing for a long time.

Thank you lovely Katie. I love your honest and realistic account of what it is to be a ballet dancer. You accomplished what I couldn’t. Much love to you!

You're on a whole 'nother level with excitement getting ready for this, and it's a joy to see. So happy you get to do this again. The first day is like the first crepe, and it's wonderful that you have perspective as an experienced dancer. Also, definitely gotta get some horsehair to sew onto the tiara!
