You stop shaping or posting? I was in a 2 years hiatus. Now shaping a longboard, a must needed for my quiver.

Any chance you could shed some light on fin positioning for those asyms? Looks like keels on the toe and quads on the heel, but the positioning within the board itself? I know a fair bit about the general idea of the outline, having the longer rail line on your toe side etc. but haven't heard the logic behind fin positioning.

From a bit of knowledge about asym boards I have here is the basic: treat each half of the board as a normal board. so for example, place the keel fin like you would on normal twin/keel fin design - usually your front rail, to get more speed, drive and you can easily can overpower the bit more drag some keels can have, place your quads on the back rail as you would place it on normal quad board, to get more loosness and easier turning on your heel side... But I am just a beginner in asyms, reading thru the internet to soak as much info to build asym board for myself for testing.. but. this basic rule sounds good to me... interesting idea I ve read from some guys experiences on swaylocks forum - start with just asym fin placement on a regular design, that makes a big change as well. Sorry for my english, not a native speaker, but hope you got the point..:)

Short answer is two different board fin positions. But essentially one side is a twin/keel and one side is a quad. The theory with asyms is to do with body leverage and also never surfing more than one rail at a time. So my ones have longer knifey rails with single to double and slightly flatter rocker toe side and heel side is single to V with boxier rails and quad with more rocker and thicker foil. This in theory ( my head ) alllows a hard drivey bottom turn up and then as you initiate a turn you move onto your heel and it should come around off the top a lot easier with the combo on heel side.

@@Shrednaught @Shrednaught I slowed play back down to have a good look🙂 very jealous Got a channel on the keel side of that first asym, does that help to blend the different tail rockers? Do you notice a big difference transitioning from rail to rail given the very different bottom profile from one side to the other?
@Shrednaught2 жыл бұрын
@@ManOfSauce I placed that channel there to almost help push/ grip off the bottom as with just the keel I thought it might get a bit slippery. Yeh I mean I’m no slater but the transitions from one side to the other is night and day. Feels amazing. I built my mate a couple the same but with a rounded square to swallow and he swears by them.
