You are so informative. Definitely one of my favourite channels by far. Because of you, I am completely revamping my skin care regimen. I feel like I've been doing it wrong all of this time, no wonder my skin never improved. You put so much time and effort into the small things, as well as things that matter most. Your skin is amaze balls, you're going to age gracefully my dear. Anyway, thanks for all of the amazing tips and tricks!

Honestly, when I see comments that say something along the lines of "You shouldn't wear makeup, you look so much better without it/natural," I usually think it's flattery, complimentary bullshit. However, I genuinely think your natural skin tone, texture, and luminosity looks crazy good that wearing makeup really isn't necessary.

I gotta tell you, I've been looking for someone who will inform me on skin care and or makeup for older skin. I am 48, and I know we aren't close in age. But most women I find have either had work done or are well, snoooooze...... Boring!! ( and how the heck do I know if the product is working when they just got a nip and tuck). I do not look my age so I am grateful to have found you. 20somethings are quirky but I don't have time for all that. I need to learn how to take care of my skin to keep me looking younger. So my point is, thank you for all your knowledge and sharing it with us. I'm from SF so it's cool you're so close. (I've moved to the tri-valley but still love SF). Keep up the good work!

You do have beautiful skin! And good for you seriously it's not exactly easy to find a regimen that works for any skin type!! I slather coconut oil on my face and let it break up my makeup and then use a baby wipe that's before I wash and I have oily skin but I like to do that step first because when I wash my face it doesn't strip it completely even though I wipe most of the coconut oil off

+X0 alicia Not sure if you had your answer but I would suggest picking up CeraVe cleanser and moisturizer to suit your skin type and eye cream from them too. Use an SPF every day, no exceptions. Remove makeup with a cleansing water or oil. (I use rice bran and castor oil 50/50 use less castor oil if you aren't as oily or acne prone.) Alpha Hydrox line at Ulta is drugstore and has good creams and toner with glycolic acid to help with texture and uneven tone, and you can use the $3.50 coupons on the items. Sally's has inexpensive hydroquinone to spot treat hyperpigmentation areas, don't use for more than 90 days without a 30 day break. You can order Vitamin C serum online, I hear Timeless sells a very good version for less than $30 (Obagi is around $60). HTH
@carolsmith87198 жыл бұрын
+X0 alicia Starr slow with the glycolic cream and serums because they can irritate if your skin hasn't built a tolerance. Patch test, then use the lowest concentration and add products as you feel comfortable. Minimum flakes or peeling means damaged skin is being treated. Redness and bad itching means it is too much.

I would absolutely love a breakdown of Obagi products. I've been having issues with my skin ever since my painkillers were changed from Morphine to Oxycodone. I've always had severely oily skin, but now I have oily skin that's dehydrated and comes complete with flaky patches. I've always used Elemis, which has never failed me, until I switched to Oxycodone. Before I studied criminal psychology, I did the whole beauty/skin care thing up to the highest level possible at school, so you'd think I would know! It's been a solid 18 years since I did any of that, and so I'm a bit out of the loop, you could say!

@ArtByStephenB9 жыл бұрын
Great video as always! The only thing: toners no longer have anything to do with balancing the skin's ph. People only think this anymore because toning in the traditional sense used to be very astringent (most toners usually contained alcohol) and stripped the skin and quickly threw off the ph; however, even then, products don't really change the skin's ph. Our skin is hard wired to very quickly rebalance itself. Even if skin's ph did change from a product, it happens for maybe 1-2 minutes before it is rebalanced. I see a lot of people talk about ph of the skin during skincare routines, but really it is nothing to worry about. Modern toning basically removes impurities and leftover dirt from cleansing, gives skin a thin, quick veil of moisture before going in with other products (since you need to quickly add some emollient or glycerin-based moisture after cleansing since sometimes cleansing can strip skin), and adds antioxidants and/or anti-irritant/ and or/skin-repair ingredients.

(You're on of my favorite YT'ers! 😬). And I should've clarified: toning is absolutely beneficial to the skin! And your updated toner, the coq10 one from Japan, is a fabulous choice for toning. Actually the lowest dosage of Retin A is 0.025%. I feel the rough two months of awful skin is an understatement haha. When I started it I had an awful purge but after about 5 months my skin looked and felt better. I was prescribed it for acne, my pimples and cystic acne was gone after 5 months. Now I am currently left with whiteheads and pretty sensitive skin. I think the retail price for my Retin A was around 115 dollars but with my insurance it was only 15 dollars.

Just a quick question. What are your thoughts on the new Rodan +Fields skincare products, such as redefine, reverse, etc? They are quite pricey. I was using the DoTerra skincare products, but after hitting my late 30's found I was in need of products that could reverse sun spots, maternity mask, get rid of alll the top layers of dead skin that were beginning to make my skin look crapey and I lost that youthful glow. It seems to have helped a lot, but I do suffer from mild breakouts due to hormones and stress. So to buy the acne line AND the reverse line In spending a FORTUNE! I also like suffer from dry skin with the same dry zones as you (nose and chin). Thank you so much! I hope you can help. Jolene

My makeup sits in it and I've really been trying to perfect setting with powder, but I'm also thinking I really need something for getting rid of the wrinkles. I'm using the Benefit line and love it, but I probably need more. What advice do you have? My skin is combination if that helps. Thank you so much!! 💜💜
@MsStephNic9 жыл бұрын
+Sharon Hoelzle Under eye skin is very difficult because it is so thin. I would recommend an eye cream, there is one by Drunk Elephant seph.me/1SSFuvr, that will help firm those lines, its almost like it goes in & hardens & expands & helps keep that area more smooth. And try not to use too much powder when setting, because that can make the concealer appear to be more dry & crepey. I would also recommend Mac Pro Longwear concealer since it has ant-crease technology. I have used many, but none as good as that.

carolinekerol I would say about a month, because I was also starting retin A, so that was giving me dry patches, and the clarisonic was removing them as my skin adjusted :)

Very informative video. I was just looking for videos to see how people like the Clarisonic Mia 2 but I learned alot of things from this video! I never heard of using a product to peel of your old skin ( that sounds weird lol ).

Shelby Lingenfelter It is very weird to shed your skin like a snake or a lizard! lol But it is the fastest way to reboot it. I wouldn't leave the house for a little bit though, I was scary looking :) I love my Mia2, can't live without it. Highly recommend. Thanks for watching :)

hi Stephanie :) I use the oil cleansing method, do u think I could use a clarisonic with that? :p
@tq85569 жыл бұрын
just wondering what you think of the Tatcha cleansing oil and tatcha rice exfoliation stuff??
@MsStephNic9 жыл бұрын
+Tabatha Newcomb The oil is ok, but overpriced for what it is. I will not be using anymore of her skincare unless the formulations change. Too many irritants in it to make it smell pretty

Hey Stephanie, do u have a trusted link for the obagi c serum?
@veronicapaloma61039 жыл бұрын
Oops wait I just saw in ur description you use the skinstore website. Would u recommend this site to get the c serum?
@MsStephNic9 жыл бұрын
I have ordered from that site before. But since this video I have changed my c serum to the Drunk Elephant. The Obagi was turning before I even got half way through the bottle. So it was a waste. The Drunk Elephant is the same %, in an airtight, solid packaging so it's good for over 2 years. I highly recommend that one instead if you are I interested. Performs better too

honestly I feel like you look much younger with no makeup, thats just my opinion but makeup really makes anyone look older but you just look more refreshed without it but then again makeup is a form of expression and artistically its amazing to most artists lol I dont know just keep in mind not a makeup lover, I do love looking at it and playing with it but putting it on my face everyday - I feel like its too much work - for me its spf and sometimes eyeliner and thats it

Thank you. For the industry I work in though, it's not really an option. I can't convincingly sell beauty products for my job if I don't use them. I don't wear it just around the house. Just to work & when I want to play.

Stephanie, you can buy individual Obagi products without having to get the kit from Lovelyskin.com

I got my Mia3! I love it...one question- which brush head do you like best? I have combo skin...but not a lot of oil.
@MsStephNic9 жыл бұрын
Meggie Price I use the sensitive head they come with, it has always worked for me, so I have never changed :)

Stephanie Nicole I already adore it- I can't believe how clean and smooth my skin was... really amazing. I did kind of find the one minute a little short but probably need to just get the hang of it.

Meggie Price So glad you like it! Remember, go in zones, start on chin & nose, beep move to forehead, beep one cheek, beep next cheek. I do believe there is a way to make it longer, check the book, there should be a way to set it for a minute & a half, but make sure you are not over doing it, because that can lead to dry sensitive skin.
@MsStephNic9 жыл бұрын
Stephanie Nicole Or maybe thats the Luna I'm thinking of. Hmmm. Can't remember if you can set it longer now lol

Skin care is a great investment. It means you have to use less products to cover up problems.

Yet another question for my skincare guru lol- have you tried the Dr. Dennis Gross alpha-beta peel? It has been highly recommended to me....and I could get it for $42 off with my beauty dotcom bucks.... also i have seen a couple of YTs saying Clarisonic harbors bacteria - actually Wayne Goss said it and then other picked that up in response to receiving the MIchael Todd antibacterial one...what do you think? I was thinking he just didnt follow through past the breakout phase and sure enough I have mor zits than I have had in many years lol
@MsStephNic9 жыл бұрын
Meggie Price I love them! I actually mention in this video, and a few other videos. I have been switching between those & that Algensit Bi Phase Peel. Love those both. I would definitely get them :) It CAN harbor bacteria, but that is why you need to change the brush heads every couple months. I also rinse mine with antibacterial soap after I use it. Most of the people all for the Luna, if you look in their description box they were sent it for free. I don't know how anyone could like it. Here is my view on Michael Todd, it is big on KZbin & blogs because all these people were sent free product to review with affiliate links & discount codes. I am always HIGHLY weary of lines like that. I have heard they have a few ok skin care products, but nothing to write home about given the current selection available. His Soniclear you only have to change the brush once a year, so it is less cost to maintain, but I don't mind changing my brush head, I like the amount of options I get with brush heads on the Clarisonic. I read this girls review on it, give it a peek spottedchic.com/2014/08/26/is-it-worth-the-hype-soniclear-vs-clarsonic-mia-2/
