Not one of the legal visas you show are for digital nomads in Thailand. Every work permit in Thailand includes you work for a Thai Company. And the process to receive a work permit is to complicated and expensive. Not many will do that . Digital Nomads work for their companies in Europe. Sometimes one month, sometimes longer. So 99% of the digital nomads work illegal in Thailand. Change your laws like we do in Europe and thousends of people will come. If you need further information please do not hesitate to contact me.

Your are totally correct , I think journalist are very confuse and should be better informed. The only visa for "digital nomad" is the LTR and it is only for digital nomads that makes lot of money not for the freelancers that works sometimes or with low or normal salaries..

@@dontysk thanks, i ask my embassy for working and the ministry for work in Thailand. No answere, no result. So i give up. No chance. My company allow to work 25 days in Thailand but there is no law for work short time in Thailand. So not allowed and i will not do sthg. against the rules. A combination of short work (4 weeks) and holiday will follow thousends of people feom Europe and bring money to this beautiful country i live so much. But i have no hope that the government change the rules like in Europe.... Everyone can work everywhere without a work permit and pay tax only in his country he/she lives.

@@hansguenterbernhardt6729 I stay in Thailand right now, working in London remotely, it is a shame, because I pay my tax in a country where i not live instead to pay where i am living, Thailand. I was waiting exciting for this new digital nomad visa, but i don't make 80K a year , then i am not allow to have this visa, but I am in most of the countries of the world where the requirements make much more sense than here, a shame because finally i will have to go to other country when they want my money, like Indonesia etc...

Not sure any digital nomad that earns 80,000 plus per year is staying long term in Thailand... you can live very comfortably in Europe on that wage. Government needs to reconsider

the minimum income is $80,000per year???!!! can't see more than about 30 digital nomads going for that, if you were earning that you'd be living in New York! only reason why people go to a place like Chiang Mai is for cheap rents, you wouldn't need that on $80,000. bizarre. europe has loads now, so prob best to stick with them.

You're mistaken. Both on wanting to live in Chiang Mai and on the income (I and many others earn that and are considering). However, the LTR doesn't benefit digital nomads, it seems -- I've checked in :(

Almost all mentioned options are no way to work legally in Thailand. And the requirements for a smart Visa are so high, that they are not suitable for the most digital nomads I assume. Maybe you could use your coverage to find out more about the needs of digital nomads, and keep on track with upcoming Visa types. Seems like Thailand wants to welcome digital nomads, but I still see no suitable/legal option to lure more working folks into the kingdom. Currently there's the business Visa, the marry Visa, the smart Visa (for the fortunate ones), the ED and Volunteer Visa. Correct me if I'm wrong...
@dontysk

The government will realized when most of the digital nomads leave the country to Indonesia and other friendly digital nomad countries. I don't know who was the "genius" who wrote the rules for this new LTR visa, but in my opinion it was a big mistake (you will see in 1 or 2 years how many "digital nomads" will get this visa).

Due to covid many countries in the world created a "digital nomad" visa. I had read the requirements of some of them and the Thai one is the one with higher requirements, it is not a real digital nomad visa. How many digital nomads get 80.000$ a year? 😂😂 I think the government will realized soon when most of the digital nomads will move form Thailand to Bali or other countries happy to receive this kind of tourist (Thailand 17% tax and 80.000/year, Bali less requirements and 0 0 tax).

Digital Nomads are an increasingly attractive segment for countries like Thailand, as their spending has proven and powerful, economic multiplier effects. Competition is mounting from other nations in the region, also seeking to attract remote workers and I hope things progress well ...

I am looking forward to get a digital nomad visa for a long time. Now I read about it and I was happy, then I read the requirements...bumping y head against the wall. Are they for real? 80k$ per year and working for a company with $150 million annual revenue. Whaaaaaaat? I am from Austria and I have a good income, especially in relation to Thai income....but not 80k per year. I work for a smaller company, for sure not 150 milion in revenue. 150 you must have one biiig company those requirements are just ridiculous. Any advice for me about how I can stay in Thailand for a long time, about 10 months to a year, and work remotely for my company in Austria. I already looked into employment offices and a work visa, which would be an option...but also costly. I would really appreciate some advice. Thanks to all

If they want digital nomads working in Thailand legally, they need to lower the restrictions like several other countries are doing with their new digital nomad visas. A lot of them only have a yearly salary requirement typically averaging around $50000 USD with an application fee averaging around $1500 USD. I think digital nomads would flock to Thailand or stop doing multiple visa runs as so many do if this was the case. Also, regarding the Special Tourist Visa (SETV), I'm pretty sure since it ends on September 30th and if you apply for it now you will only get the first 3 months. You have to have done your 2x 3 month extensions BEFORE September 30th to get the full 270 days. At this point, it's best to apply for the single entry Tourist Visa (3 months max) or the multiple entry Tourist Visa (6 months max). Thank you for the video guys!

Funny thing is, If you actually email Thailand Elite, they actually say you can work remotely on their visa. So I'm thinking ok, if I ever work remotely on that visa, I'm going to print out their email and when immigration bust me, I'll show the email from Thailand elite and also their website where it says I can. Thailand is laughable in terms of all this. I just recently found out a guy who was staying in Thailand and working remotely not paying taxes back home just got granted a smart s type visa. He is still doing work under the smart s type without a company setup back home. It's like, did Thailand actually even do a background check on him?
