Jane Eyre is definitely my favorite book of all time. I've read it twice. The first time I was more drawn to the tragedy of her childhood and this time around I found her relationship with Mr.Rochester to be super relatable to my current life. I can absolutely relate to each read having different meaning 😍

Hello Lucy, I'm sorry to hear that you've been ill. Welcome back! I'm reading The Way We Live Now by Anthony Trollope, which is terrific. It's my first Trollope experience, and I'm enjoying it. His writing is so realistic and accessible. The book is long, but I'm not intimidated. In fact, I think I want it to last as long as possible. LOL! I'm also reading Dickens' Christmas Books. I've read A Christmas Carol, The Cricket on the Hearth, and The Chimes. Now I'm on The Battle of Life. I adore Dickens, and the Christmas books are wonderful! There are so many themes in them - family, class, money, gender. It's great stuff! Just before I started Trollope and Dickens I reread The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I read it years ago when I was in my twenties, but I couldn't remember it. I thought it was a perfect read for Victober, and I was right! I love the theme of the divided self. Thank you for the recommendations you provided. I hope your health continues to improve.

Oh, I would love videos about newspapers and magazines! I have some publications I want to dive into myself and also look for more old photos and ads - because, yes, vintage ads are somehow just so much fun and/or incredibly beautiful.

Lucy, I am so grateful to see you back talking vigorously about books. You are so brave and bold to fight all your difficulties and come back in a new form. You inspire me truly. You are thr one who intriguing me to read long books. I am also sometimes intimidated to read big books. I am trying to overcome it. I want to read Jane Eyre. It is on my bucket list for a very long time. I have enjoyed Anne Brontë's writings so I look forward to read all the Brontë's sister's novels. Apart from reading I am participating in many writing projects. I am freewriting as well. Love you🥰

Wonderful to see you back on KZbin. Hope you are starting to feel better, take it easy and don’t stress, take things at the pace you need to. Thinking good thoughts for all those heading back into lockdown. Reading wise over the last few months I have hit some children’s classics - Wind in the Willows, Anne of Green Gables, The Secret Garden to list a few. Also read Middlemarch and reread Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice. North and South is next up...

Happy belated birthday, Lucy! But... the present came to us, we heard from you! 🤗 So glad to see you back, but do it at your pace. It's completely understandable that when you juggle with many things, some of them have to fall, at least temporarily. Children books and favourite re-reads are great for comfort. I hope you continue getting better 😘

Hello Lucy! I’m currently reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, which you recommended some time ago, and it’s really helping me cope with the situation right now (we are also in a similar lockdown again in Spain), so I wanted to truly thank you for recommending it 🙏🏻 Happy to see that you are back 😊💙

Lucy, It is lovely to have you back. My schoolwork has been stressful and I have been struggling with the novel I am currently writing. Everything has grown arduous because of fear and anxiety. I have been writing poetry to blossom joy within my presence. The novel I am writing happens to be a piece of children’s literature set in the past. I have been rereading my favorite books and Jane Eyre is always such a delight. There are so many struggles and I am pushing through them with hope. I am finding old friends through both reading and writing. I am rather pleased that my mental health is doing much better. Your videos bring about a soft smile on my face and I appreciate the magic. I love you

I've read 30 books this year out of my goal of 40! I'm currently trying to pick a book and I think I'm going for Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton. I have been doing okay. New job, new place. Some days are a struggle but overall things are good. I'm so glad you are back and feeling well. I look forward to hearing more about your Edwardian writing pursuits. Sending love ❤️

Happy birthday! I’m so glad you’re back and doing better. I know how you feel about children’s books - I’m just coming off a really stressful few months at work and have my long awaited 2 weeks of annual leave coming up at the end of November. Working from home since March I knew I really needed to get out of my house for a staycation and had been looking forward to for months - then Ireland went into Level 5 again with us restricted to 5 km all November. I cried and was really down for days and then, trying to decide how to make my time off still escapist and refreshing, I went online and ordered all of the Malory Towers, Twins of St Clare’s, and Naughtiest Girl books which were my favourite when I was younger - I cheated and read the Naughtiest Girl ones this weekend and it was such a good idea, children’s books are wonderful and really will help my mindset! I also took your recommendation of ages ago and ordered a Georgette Heyer, my first - so can’t wait to see what I think of her!

Thank you Lucy for your great videos! Thanks to them, I have started reading English classics, in English! I am French, and I love French literature. Discovering English Literature, which is so wide, so rich, is like opening a large window over a new world to discover! I love it! I am currently finishing The woman in white by W Collins. The next one will be Women who did. I hope I'll like it as you did! Have a nice reading evening! Marie

Yes! Please do videos on Edwardian magazines! I read a bit of Girl's Own Paper and Boy's Own Paper for my publishing degree, and it was really interesting to look at and compare the two. Also, I really recommend the Nevermoor series by Jessica Townsend! It's a truly wonderful middle grade series. I just started A Room of One's Own by Virginia Woolf, and although it wasn't exactly what I expected, I think I really enjoy it, but it's too early to say.

Happy belated birthday and welcome back! I really relate to what you said about reading classics vs. comfort reads this year. I'm currently reading Jude the Obscure and enjoying it, but it's going very slowly because I'm reading a lot of cozy/comforting things on the side. I hope uni is going well, and don't stress yourself about filming, your health and comfort come first! Also I would love to hear more about those Edwardian magazines, that sounds fun. 😄

At the moment I’m reading The Mill on the Floss by George Eliot. I started it a few weeks ago but I put it down because I was stressed at the time and couldn’t really focus on the writing, even though I was enjoying it. I read a book which is now one of my top 10 novels of all time which is Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf. I can’t put into words how much I adored this book and I can’t wait to delve into more Woolf. And yesterday I finished The Return of the Native by Thomas Hardy which I utterly adored. It was so beautiful and I loved the characters. Wishing you the best
