Very Good brother you put depth and meaning into the story, I've always thought about this story, thinking all the Hmong in the village are evil that they could kill an innocent person but your explanation, ideas and story telling makes one understand better how the situation may have been all that many years ago. Thanks for the great stories and keep up the good work.

Daniel Sta this is how a storytelling should make a storyline to make it better and more detail more sense. I’m from now on not just telling any story about this and that like others, but I use my acknowledgement to create the details and explain how? Until you get the answer and solve the problem. BTW I’m thank you for choosing my channel and support my views plus subscribe thank you 🙏 again God bless us all

I believe this is true. My husband is a Yang. And when my son was smaller I’ve slightly accidentally fed it to him and he spat it out, so most likely they are born to not like the taste and also it tastes oddly to them, the texture and all. So me marrying a Yang they avoid it throughly. Thank for the story, history behind it.

Elizabeth Herr yes I did but every story have to have a storyline no matter what? Made it up to make it more sense to ending up with the truth is a better way of being a storyteller in the 21Century. And yes, I do instead of writing a movie scripts to make a story I called it myself is a 21Century storytelling. People whose understanding they’re right in this century, but whoever disagree or don’t know what is a storytelling is? They probably not grow enough to know. But mentioned in the video they say you have to be pure Yang for it to affect you.
@angielo062 жыл бұрын
Not true about being pure Yang. As my parents told me even if you have different last name and converted to a Yang, once you converted can't go back to your original last anymore because if you go back you are going to eat the heart so it will be bad luck to you.

Georgey Yang this is NOT the true story of the Yaj caiv plawv especially where the elders dragged the boy out to slit his throat in public?? Come on. That's too much exaggeration!. This story is an absolute fabrication for the thrill of the listeners but all Yang who still prohibits the clan men from eating the heart should know that 1) yes, a disable or deaf boy was sacrificed but not in the face of the public town like a bunch of savages. 2) the person who killed the boy was his own brother and he alone carries the guilt and burden 3) the ocassion was NOT during new year but rather an unknown time where the elders make a sacrifial animal to the ancestors (ua nyuj dab). YES the boy was the one that watch the pot and NO he never ate the heart. When the heart (never said it was a pig) got stuck in the bottom, the older brother sacrificed his younger brother who was deaf and used his heart to finish the sacrficial ceremony. When a second heart was found later on that's when the elders got concerned and questioned the household. The older brother couldn't hide his grief and guilt so he admitted to his mistake but it was too late for it cannot be reversed. For lack of education and wisdom, Hmong people are afraid of taboos and curses so in order to bring chaos to order, or so the believed, a senior aunt of the clan must curse all men of the Yang clan from eating the heart of ANY living animal in this world for their carelessness. If you are a Yang, you must first remember that your great great great cousin, brother, grandpa who was a human was sacrificed unrighteously and most importantly, remember that Yang men were NEVER savages like this story portray. The crime was committed by ONE person. My story was told to us in 5 generations by our fathers, grand fathers and their fathers and although i cannot vouch for it, i trusted that no group of people will sacrifice one of their own in public unless they are cannibals!
@l.o.r4104 жыл бұрын
kcy805 You do realize Hmong people was cannibalism back then, right? Smh. What kind of dumb theory is that. Instead of defending what’s wrong or right. Just enjoy the story. This is not to portray yang as a bad clan. This is history you idiot. Take it or leave it. You can’t change it.

I'm a Hmoob Yaj and as a child my parents have told me and my brothers never to eat the heart. There was an incident once when I was 10 years old, my cousin who was a Hmoob Xiong didn't know that we couldn't eat the heart. I was too busy playing games when she handed me the chicken heart. As I put it in my mouth, it was a awful, bitter taste, something I have never ate or experience before. I quickly split it out to realize it was the chicken heart.. The awfulness and bitterness taste was probably a sign for me not to eat it.

And if someone other the Yang disbelieve the curse and tries to break the curse by mixing the heart meat with other meat simpy bcuz they are the ones that will suffer the consequences and the the Yang person who ate it.

There's a variation to this story within the Yang clan, for those who wonders. One correction to this story: The story teller said no Yang males can eat an animal with a heart, probably a misspoke. Correction is: All Yang males, old or young, cannot knowingly eat the heart of an animal, but we can eat any other editable part. Thank you.
