The Yoshi's Island ad genuinely hurts my soul because the original genuinely was an amazing game. That ad made me feel sick and had me yelling 10 the entire time. The marketing team really did the game dirty.

I saw that scene in the movie with my dad as a kid, I couldn’t watch it for years as an adult. My friends loved Monty Python but when the Meaning of Life came on I was in the kitchen or something 😂. I’m kinda ok with it now, after taking the step to watch it again. I’m still intruiged.

I thought about that scene at the start of the commercial, then the explosion after "just one more bonus level" sealed it. I never saw the movie until I was an adult, but that scene still got to me.

So there's a story behind why Dairy Queen flips their Blizzards. Samuel Temperato, the DQ franchise owner who came up with the idea for Blizzards, was inspired by the frozen treats sold by Ted Drewes, a St. Louis shop owner who termed them “concrete”. In 1959, Steve Gamber, then 14, would stop by Drewes’ Chippewa Street location for a sandwich and chocolate malt, asking Drewes to make it thicker and thicker each time. Drewes had enough and one day flipped the malt upside down to show its thickness, assuring his young customer that if it fell out, it was free. Temperato picked this up for Dairy Queen! That Stanley Steemer commercial, as odd as it was, is definitely nostalgic as my cousins used to make fun of that commercial all the time.

The logo used to be a simplistic person, maybe a woman, with scraggly hair. Pulling their hair out from confusion. Then it became a woman with a stripy top and a skirt. A simplistic woman. Then it became that animated one. Unfortunately they kept the ragged hair from the logo. Recognition, probabely.

The hedgehog commercial was kinda cute tbh, it really would've stuck in my memory if I'd seen it on TV numerous times as a kid lol. I'd give it maybe a 2 or 3 out of 10. Also as dumb as that Little Caesars ad is it's really nostalgic bc it used to be a huge inside joke for my brother and I lol. We would always just randomly say Pizza Time to each other in that voice

Agreed. The CG really sold the witch cursed husband and the whole scene felt super professionally made. It was so uber cute and makes for a great pilot towards some modern Bewitched reboot series. So why am I giving it a 7 out of 10? What was that ad trying to sell, again? Was it a bank transaction? They must have spent a ton on the visuals, scene and plot without making much of an impression on the... _reason for it being an advertisement._ They were happy over.... couldn't tell you. It made more of a statement for a new show then as a sales pitch.

As an Aussie who grew up in the 90s, the Gobbledok (who was an alien) was a common mascot here. I don't know if I was scared at first, but after a commercial where he bungee jumps in an attempt to steal chips it somehow crept up onto me how terrifying he was. When I got this commercial-themed board game one time I couldn't bring myself to get through the tape since it had that ad on it.

I did some research on some stuff shown today. 1. Yoshi's Island, I never saw it till the Internet brought it up on Twitter and reviewers talk about it. I played the GBA version of Yoshi's Island and looked up the commercial for that as a refresher, it's the one where Yoshi throws an Egg at a car. Nothing gross, it's silly and fits what happens in the game. 2. Troy restaurant, I noticed it was located in Staten Island, as a New Yorker, I looked into it. Google says it's "Permanently Closed." I looked at street view on Google Maps to see what it is today. It is now Violette's Cellar that serves subterranean food. So, the Palace of Taste is no more unfortunately.

If you're wondering where Mt. Shasta is from that water commercial, it's in northern California in Siskiyou County. It's a potentially active volcano that's part of the Cascade Range. I've worked at Dairy Queen, and they force you to flip it, and after hours of flipping, it gets old, se we just flip it quick so we can move the line along and go home. We don't care enough. But we do have to make sure you see it cause if you don't see it and we give it to you, you can say that we didn't do it and apparently then you get a free Blizzard.

I remember the Confused adverts - there were a few of them, and it's usually the shorter character who is the main character in the adverts (hence her being in the logo - I feel her name was Carla or something?) I remember not liking them at the time, but they have a nostalgic cringe to them now - and I actually like the "Chain Reaction" one, which wasn't shown in this video. The next line of adverts featured a robot named Brian, which I never really cared about, so maybe that helped me realize how good I had it with this? And yeah, it's a comparison site - the point being that you go there whenever you're confused about what insurance to get, or whatever. This was explained better in the previous advert or advert line (which was essentially just a dude talking.) Edit: Cara not Carla.

The gimmick with the game Blur was that it combined semi-realistic racing with kart racing weapon mechanics, that's why the commercial for it chose the direction that it did.
