For those confused about what Arnold Schwarzenegger is doing in a Japanese commercial: Arnold did MANY commercials in Japan for cup noodles and energy drinks (this one was for an energy drink). Known as "Schwa-chan," his catchphrase was "daijou-V," a wordplay on "daijoubu" ("okay" in Japanese) and the "V" in energy drink he was selling, Alinamin V. Back in the 1980s and 1990s, many celebrities wouldn’t do advertising work in the US, but they’d happily pose with an energy drink on Japanese billboards. This is because they didn't want their American fans to see these. The reason companies in Japan wanted foreign celebrities like Nic Cage and Bruce Willis endorsing their products was because they wanted to get the Japanese people excited at the idea that other cultures, especially Americans, liked their goods. So why did Arnold in particular did them if he didn't want his loyal fans to know? Because he earned big bucks for them. American celebs made anywhere between $500,000 and $2 million for a two-day shoot for one of these commercials.

the "V" in "daijou-V" is pronounced "Voie". Sidenote: using the Smash Ultimate Simon Belmont model can make for good Arnold Schwarzenegger jokes; since Simon already had a physical resemblence (and to an extent in some games, sharing similar origins) to Conan the Barbarian, a character Arnold plays.

Context for the Mighty Mints commercial: The guy in the commercial is Marc Weiner (voice of Swiper and the Map on Dora the Explorer) and he had a show on Nickelodeon in the 90s called Weinerville that was in this same format where it was an environment with a mix of characters that are just puppets or someone's head on a little body as shown here. Between these live-action segments, they'd show super old cartoons. It was filmed at the former Nickelodeon Studios in Orlando so the show included audience participation as well where someone in the crowd would be "Weinerized"...yeah. The cute plushie at 1:58 is not a yak, it's a Highland cow! Highland cattle have a thick fringe of hair that covers their eyes protect them from stinging hail, lashing rain, insects, and biting winds. So it helps them survive the Scottish winter! They use their big horns to rake away snow in order to get to food...as well as for a good scratch as shown here! They were important to the Scottish economy in the eighteenth century as thirty thousand of them by the 1720s were sold to the English. In 1954, the late Elizabeth II ordered Highland cattle to be kept at Balmoral where they are still kept today! Though the breed is actually considered endangered in the UK as there are around 3,000 left in the country. Worldwide, there are 40,000 of them with most being in either France or Finland

So the big head puppet thing is actually a performance by Mark Wiener. He was the host of a Nickelodeon show in the early 90s called Wienerville, which was basically just that schtick for multiple full-length episodes. They even got at least one TV movie out of it. And I frickin' loved it when I was a kid. Hell, as an adult, when Mark Wiener did a guest spot on Ned's Declassified and did the schtick again, I was totally delighted. Most of the eps of his show are considered lost media now, sadly, but you can probably find some. Maybe unlock some core memory from early childhood.

I knew it! I think I was a bit too young to recall Wienerville though! When did it air? I was born in 1992, so possibly around that time? I dunno. I think I had something to the effect of a straw that was edible. I believe the premise was that the milk soaks through the inner wall and drag the flavor from the pellets within the straw out into the milk as you're sipping it. As for cereal straws, I can see it working. After all, cereal in milk tastes pretty good. Why not milk through a cereal straw?
