I remember seeing OF in their first overseas show when I was backpacking through Europe in London at the Drop at 19 years of age. I heard their mixtapes and didn’t know much but knew I had to be there to witness some talent into he rise. Not really. They, OF, were doing their own thing, but people before them were doing, wearing and presenting the same imagery. Rage Against the Machine. Ice T, old Ice T. Cop Killer Ice T. He rapped with a metal band and DJ. Then theres M.O.P. they rapped over punk, as Mashed Out Posse, before they went full steam hip hop/rap. OFWGKTA just did it better and stuck around. Mostly... MellowHype is still one of my favorite albums.
