Hi Winter Forest. How are you? Welcome to my Spanish course. If you are just beginning, let me suggest you to first watch the newer videos, which have better quality and faster pace than the older. I'm currently remaking the 1st part of my Spanish course. Recently, I published the following compilation that you will like, because of the improved video-quality and more details: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZWal42flsShe80 Then, as you continue watching the other compiled videos I suggest you go to my website to do the quizzes. They are interactive and are corrected online automatically. Hi Rodrigo. First, thank you so much for these lessons, they are invaluable to me. I was just wondering how well these lessons overlap with the past course? If I watched the first 19 of the new course, could I take off from lesson 20 of the old course? If not, would you recommend just using the old course for now as it has much more content?
@RodrigoIdiomas5 жыл бұрын
Hello Proudhon91. Welcome to my Spanish lessons. It is not easy to say where the newer lessons overlap with the older ones. Because there is a difference in style, topics, and the examples I used. Plus, the quizzes that are published on my website are all based on the older lessons. Therefore I suggest watching them from the beginning and then trying to do the test. These are corrected online automatically, and you can do them again as many times as you want.

Hola maestro, con referencia al idioma inglés es correcta la palabra "Candy's" en lugar de "Candies"? Es para una marca de dulces saludos.
@RodrigoIdiomas7 жыл бұрын
Hola.

Hi, "lluvia" - how to pronounce this word please ? Do we start with a "y" sound ? So we will use " Y "sound for "ll" when it comes at the beginning as well as in the middle of the word ? In some other videos they use "j" sound in place of "ll" , can you tell me why please ? And I thought when ever "J" comes in a word we need to use "H' sound which we use in English. But for the word 'juegos" you pronounced it as "guaegos", so how to pronounce "J" in words when it comes at the beginning and in middle please ?
@RodrigoIdiomas6 жыл бұрын
Hello Deepak. Sorry for the late reply, but I'm just returning from a long trip. In Spanish J is always pronounced like a very rough English H. In English H sounds like a smooth exhalation. But the Spanish J is rough: with your throat. However, it never sounds like a G. And the Spanish Y and LL have the same sound (whenever the Y is followed by a vowel in the same word). In Uruguay and in Argentina they are pronounced similar to an English SH. But in the rest of the Hispanic world the sound is more like an EE. Not exactly the same, but you until you get it right, you can do it like that.

the pronunciation of G is confusing me. In the alphabet its pronounced as heh right? But in words such as golf its pronounced as a normal English g. and then in words like hydrogen its pronounced like a harsh h. how do you know what to use when? can someone please help me.
@RodrigoIdiomas6 жыл бұрын
Hi Eda. It is not so different from English. WIth G, O and U the G is pronounced as in GOLF. And with E and I as in GINGER. Only that instead the is is like a rough H. For example, GINGER read in Spanish would be something like HEEN-HER. But with a very rough H, unlike the smooth English exhalation.

Why la serten? There is no letter a in last
@RodrigoIdiomas6 жыл бұрын
It is arbitrary. It is convenient to say that most nouns are either masculine of feminine because of their ending letter. But when there is no rule, it is an arbitrary thing of the language. Like in German: the rules apply to maybe just one tenth of all words. The great majority are either masculine, feminine or neutral for no specific reason other than it is as it is :-)

Unfortunately today it is officially accepted to pronounce both the same. I believe this is a shame, because Spanish has proved too complacent by adapting the language to the less educated. But it still is more sophisticated or well-educated to pronounce B and V distinctly.

Good lesson. But Catalan is not Spanish.
@RodrigoIdiomas6 жыл бұрын
Really? From an academic perspective, I believe that all official languages that belong to the Kingdom of Spain are officially Spanish. Catalans are a bit rebellious and hate to acknowledge that they belong to Spain. But facts are facts. And Catalonia is an Autonomous region within the Kingdom of Spain. And only autonomous as far as the central government decides not to abolish their autonomy. Because their Constitution, I think, has a clause describing a few conditions that can trigger their losing it.
@diyarnechirvan6 жыл бұрын
Aprender Idiomas y Cultura General con Rodrigo I'm not talking about and don't want to get involved in the political side of the Catalan language. It's all about its origin. Well coming from the same root of a language family and being two different varieties of the same language are different things as you can apraciate.
@RodrigoIdiomas6 жыл бұрын
But the thing is: SPANISH is a political term that refers to whatever from the Kingdom of Spain. Thus, any official languages from there are officialy Spaniah languages.
@diyarnechirvan6 жыл бұрын
Aprender Idiomas y Cultura General con Rodrigo You started by saying an academic view and ended up with a political and official debate. Reminding that official rules are not to be true but are subjective and man-made. Therefore, there's no need to argue about the matter you say, except for the linguistic matters.

El catalán es un idioma que se habla en España, por tanto es un idioma español, pero también es un idioma francés, italiano y andorrano, pues también se habla en Francia, Italia y Andorra. El hecho de que sea un idioma español no lo hace un dialecto del castellano ni nada parecido.
