Curtis was diabetic and was very sick for most of his adult life. He did well to be able to get classic tracks like this out before his untimely death.

Yes, it was very sad that he passed away at a very young age. Diabetes is a very serious illness and it is not always cured because the immune system in the body does not function.

I remember going to the record store asking for this. The guy behind the counter put the record on and played it. “This one” ? He asked. I said yep. That’s it. He took the record off the player, put it in it’s jacket and GAVE it to me. It was a promo copy that I guess he didn’t need anymore. I felt so lucky. Remembering this made me come in here and listen. Thanks Curtis!

Curtis was always the headliner of all the talent shows on campus at WSSU. I was fortunate enough to know and hang out with him briefly when he came over to visit my room mate in the dorm on campus. Unfortunately they both have passed... RIP to my best friend(roomy) and Curtis, the world has lost such major talent.

Yes, like you, I remember the concerts and talent shows at WSSU and Curtis with his amazing voice, when he would sing peabo Bryson's and George Benson's songs. I'm was always a fan of his and only knew him a little bit on campus there. I miss him a lot, and God has truly picked an angel. Mary Mc Leod Herring.

My family and I attended the same church (First Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, NC) as he did in the late 70's, even though I honestly was a little young to remember him then. My mom remembered him singing in the choir, and said that he had a wonderful voice. I never knew that there was a video to this song, which is my favorite of his. But he is still very much missed here. R.I.P.
