The whole song is just a POWERFUL MESSAGE, it is not just a song for entertainment, l read if I'm not mistaken that Mr. Mayfield wrote this song base off a sermon(s) he heard when attending church with his mother or grandmother. One of my favorite lyrics in the song is when Curtis Mayfield sings there is no hiding place from the Kingdom Throne, so people get ready. Again this is a Powerful song and not just for entertainment-JESUS IS COMING BACK for those who BELIEVE in HIM!!!!!

People Get Ready! Is probably the GREATEST EVER SONG. Anyone who is anybody in the music world has song this song. The first time I think in heard this song was about 1968. I was in high school and The Impressions were doing a show. It at Thomas Edison HS. The enrollment was predominantly black at the school. I remember the isles in the auditorium were packed with kids dancing. What makes it so GREAT it was a all boys school then.

Been Blessed listening to his Music since the early 1960's because my father played Curtis Mayfield and The "Impressions" Daily. I Bought my first Album of his at 14 called "Curtis "Live" which was recorded at The "Bitter End" Night Club in New York's Greenwich Village. I didn't know it then but in my 20's I would spend quite a bit of time in that neighborhood catching some amazing Artists. Curtis is still on the top of my list of favorites. R.I.P.
