This video shows the process we used at Makoce Waste, Wiconi Waste (Sweet Land, Sweet Life) to create a curved, slip-form stem-wall out of field-stone for our straw-bale & cob home in Minnesota.

Scott's enthusiasm at the 6:00 minute mark is contagious.

Thank you for making this. There is precious little about curved slipform walls!

Thankyou so much for sharing this. My partner and I are building a cordwood cob home and we were stuck on how to make the slip forms for the round stem wall. Now we have a new hope. The finished product looks awesome. Great job you two :D

A good trick is to let the concrete light set, then do a light pressure wash, so the concrete is not even with the stone face. You can either point the seams, or leave them offset for depth.

Beautiful! Totally ironic to have the name "Waste".

Why insulate outside walls? Doesn’t make sense to me. What heat are you trying to retain?

How deep did you dig your foundation, and what zone are you in? Great video.

Not my cup of tea as far as looks, but you could’ve stripped out the forms that same day and saved your strength chipping away at the set concrete the next day.

i think i would test that theory out on a a test wall to see what method is time/energy efficient. good point to look into because that looks to be quite labor intensive.

You made a whole lot of extra work for you letting it set up too much

Thinking about trying building a outdoor fireplace this way... What do you guys think ???

As long as it is insulated inside. Concrete and certain types of stone do not react well to high heat.

Will you do more? Have you built your home yet?

Extremely useful video, just a pity that the makers do not reply to viewer's questions? I was wondering why you didn't use an electric hammer chisel to remove the excess concrete from your stone work as it surely would have been quicker and less labour intensive?

Where do you think the nearest outlet is?

@@jwnigel Well, it was two years ago, but I guess even then the world still had GENERATORS.
@kjsouthall2522 жыл бұрын
@@RobertsBulgaria It would be a waste of energy, you have to use fossil fuels to power generators, these sort of people are trying to do things with the least amount of electro-mechanical energy spent, for reasons of sustainability. It's an offset, time and human effort. For some people time and labor are a premium, so using an electric hammer for example would meet their needs. For other people, expending the least amount of artificially generated electrically and mechanically generated force and energy as possible for reasons of eco-sustainability are their priorities.

you just killed the stones on that

Its awful looking the joints are too big. The problem with slipform is its too difficult to see the face as the stones are going in.
