One tip that helped me tremendously: grab a good plastic clamp and use it as an extra hand on the rim pinching the cushcore in place. I also just used a little sealant as lubricant instead of soapy water and it worked great. Once you have it in place, he was spot-on with working the tire bead as far under the cushcore as possible, physically "roll" the cushcore up a little and push that bead in there under the insert. This will ensure you can get the bead on without too much fuss and risk of damaging your rim.

Cushcore is great, especially if you have expensive carbon rims you want to protect or dont care about the cost at all! (Or you race for podiums and money) I wanted Cushcore as I HATE flats! But after I learned that foam inserts, not just Cushcore, only last approximately up to a year I find them way to expensive! Now 6 month later I still haven't even gotten my fist punkture, maby luck? maby the new tyres? who knows. So until the price is getting way WAY cheaper (it's foam for crying out loud) and the lifespan of inserts gets longer I won't be buying.

I've been running cushcore for about two years now. I did a three day helicopter Enduro in Revelstoke with 10 psi front and 15 psi rear. No burps no pinch flats! When I took the tires off you could see where the cushcore was pinched by big impacts but the tires got off Scott free! The crazy thing is that not only do the prevent burping at low pressure they also let you rail corners with ridiculously low pressure. They pretty much eliminate tire squirm. For day to day riding I run 10 psi front and rear.

I tried one of these. Here is the issue: They take up so much space in the tire, they don't allow the sealant to slop around very well. This keeps the sealant from working very well. If you do try these, double the amount of sealant you put in...

How harder is it to change the tire if it has Cush core installed already?
@VanCan5 жыл бұрын
Harder, probably adds 30 min to a tire swap
@mtbboy19935 жыл бұрын
@@VanCan it does not. Takes about 3 - 5 min per wheel to install or remove, unless you do it in an inefficient way, and take brakes and abuse your hands. Of course it can vary with tyre, rim combo, so can ad one or more minutes. The key is to get bead under ccysh core and into the rim channel, and using a tyre lever to push it, it makes it easier and faster. To fill sealant, I don't pop the bead, but use the opening, to fill orange seal directly from bottle to the tyre, the carefully rotate the tyre and pop bead, then I make sure it's somewhat aligned, so it's possible to pump it up, then I pump until bead pops completely everywhere, then drop it to desired pressure.

I had mine on a fair while and when I put new Tyres on had a hell of a job getting the old ones off . The Bead and Cushcore seemed to be glued together by the Sealant
@mtbboy19935 жыл бұрын
@@michaeltowler2632 I don't have this issue, but rim,tyre combo will play a role in this, osme rims hold on to the tyre more, and cush core keeps tyre even mroe secure, so if it's a problem, use your feet to get the bead to pop off, I had to do this with bontrager wheels with no cush core, but it works as good on cush core too, just stomp the tyre and bead will pop out. but if it's nto too bad you use thumbs to roll the bead off the rim.
