The OMC engine is decidedly uncommon, and worth paying attention to when running. Considerably harder to find parts for, and more complex than the flat head, but certainly very collectable. Honda was light years more sophisticated, so for the same price you could buy an S-90 that topped out at 62 (as geared) and could cruise all day with 2 people at 55 mph.. using little gas, and making little noise, with better brakes, lights, and everything else. But this is pure Americana, and the last of the line of eagles, which are tons of fun in their own right !

Nice looking Cushman, I had a 58 Cushman Eagle. I was surprised when he kick started it, one of the big selling points of the new engine was the electric starter. Is the electric starter not working or is the battery just run down?

OMC=Outdoor Marine Corp. Cushman started using the aluminum engine from OMC about 62 or 63, they came with an electric start. I believe Cushman brought this out to hopefully compete with the Japanese bikes that were beginning to take over the market. The OMC engine is considered much less reliable than the old Cushman flat head engine. I rode one of those back in 63, I had a 58 Cushman Eagle and the local dealer encouraged me to take the new bike for a ride and show it to my dad, I really liked it, my Dad didn't share my enthusiasm...LOL
