A tall tank really does present different possibilities for plants. This is interesting and fun. I think Cories, Apistos or loaches with Discus, Angels or Bolivian rams would be great. I'm glad you are getting back to your fry rack. This is a great project!

I would love to take advantage of the layers that height gives. Some Corys at the bottom and killis or hatchet fish up top. The middle could either be a schooling nano that will have enough room to display more natural behaviors, or a nice centerpiece fish, my preference would be an angle

Wow!! This is an exciting development!! Can’t wait to see what happens! Do you think you need to put more light on the tank for the plants? It’s a very deep tank!
@LRBaquatics
@LRBaquatics 3 жыл бұрын
The plant on it isn’t very demanding and getting some algae on the bottom so it indicates to me the light is sufficient. It’s a grow light that is pretty central with its diodes for more concentrated penetration of light. I could easily grow dwarf sag or even hair grass on the bottom of it wasn’t for the discus but don’t want to get food stuck in between the plants that they can’t get too

I think you should add some carpeting plant on the bottom. Also I was wondering if you can try windowsill tanks, just a small custom tank that you put next to the window. That way you don’t have to use a light. It would be very interesting because most window tanks I’ve seen get algae, but I think you would be able to avoid it

I greatly enjoy your feeds and videos right now I am very limited I have A 30 breeder a couple of 40 breeders and a couple of 55 and 9 10s and 9 5.5s The big tanks are all heavily planted and all the smalle tanks have frogbit Java moss and water wistaria along with chola wood Let's mall tanks are all full of endler fry and I have endlers every where. My plants do well but nothing like yours you clearly have a knack. Currently I can't do much maintenance I am recovering from major hip reconstruction surgery after a car wreck. What I would like to know is anything informationally about hygro "willow" I have about 10 plants planted in a 55 and they seem to be doing well and I love the plant some of the bottom leaves died off when I 1st got them but they all have bright green new shoots at the top. It was a special from a mail order plant house and it was a total whim But I haven't been able to find much info on it. Several of the stems are throwing side shoots. So I should be able to propagate it that way. Is it a heavy root feeder, water column, both? I just trimmed off some younger shoots and planted them in my 40 breeder that my stellatus octopi thrives in and it really looks nice as a counterpoint to that plant. Soon as I heal I want to get back into my Killie fish. I'll be shopping your lists I am sure.
@LRBaquatics
@LRBaquatics 3 жыл бұрын
I hope you heal fast! It’s an easy plant that gets along in all sorts of conditions. It will be from the column and from roots. Propagation comes from training a stem. Like all stem plants you can trim and form it to your liking like bonsai. You can also float it.

I would put another couple of Monster plants in there and grow out/breed Mystery Snails. Then I could buy some from you. ;) It doesn't look like a particularly Discus friendly tank.
@LRBaquatics
@LRBaquatics 3 жыл бұрын
Why not discus friendly looking? The mystery snails would dirty the water to much for water changes over time from feeding them and all the pooping they do
@LRBaquatics

But not a bad idea if I didn’t have to use the water for water changes would give them lots of space to lay eggs

i thought bacteria dont live in free flowing water? so how will adding water from a cycled tank, jump start that tank?
@LRBaquatics
@LRBaquatics 3 жыл бұрын
Bacteria lives in water column. Even as the river flows. City water it does not because of chlorine and chloramine. That’s why the sump is for aging “cycling” the water before it goes in the smaller containers. Because the new water comes from city that when it flows it has very little bio load. Fish need the bio loaded water.

I'm going to point something out, but don't get mad, or feel some type of way, alright ummmm....... Why would you use ro water, but then make it "dirty" right away? I understand the Bacteria Jumpstart methods, by pre-cycle media transfer, just that using RO water wasn't really needed, if you were going to transfer "dirty media" anyway, thus the RO water is no longer as clean as the pristine parameter which is what RO water is meant to do. I'm just saying it sort of defeats the purpose here. Don't mind me, just me thinking out loud.
@LRBaquatics
@LRBaquatics 3 жыл бұрын
Lol no worries. I dont operate like that. The reason why I want it "dirty" is to "season" the water. Sterile water is not good for fish and needs to be biologically sound with mother natures essence for fish. I also split my hardwater tap 50/50 with the RO for mineralization.
@luster5497
@luster5497 3 жыл бұрын
@@LRBaquatics You did say better safe than sorry, making ultra clean water a little dirtier to Jumpstart, is a lot safer than using only "dirty cylce water". Hey Lucas, are you going to try keeping and breeding "Sulawesi Shrimps"?
