CUSTOM Arborist Chip Truck - Ford F550 v10

In this video, I show you around the custom arborist chip truck I designed for my tree & hedge care business. The builder I chose to work with sent me some base plans and then worked with me step by step to NAIL all these details . Storage space was KEY since we don't process a TON of big material. Pruning and preservation is the name of our game. The box is 100% aluminium, making this truck under weight, meaning you don't need a fancy license to drive it. There is a LOT of storage on this truck, but after a year with it I can tell you that we use ALL the storage. It's the perfect mix of cabinets & chip space for VISION. Thanks for watching! haha yeah happens sometimes, but it's a quick flip! The truck is actually past legal driving width if the ladder is flipped up, we we flip it down when traveling. We are used to it, but maybe I'd look into another ladder option next time. I would not change that long cabinet though, its gold!

Hey! Thanks for the questions! Its the Ford 6.8 gas v10. I also have the 7.3 gas v8 in other models and both are great! All the boxes and hydros were around 33,000$ cad in spring of 2020

We gave up on that idea! Not much room left in the cabinets. I have these little KEI trucks from Japan and I might turn one into a mobile coffee bar! As for the v10, we only do 5000 KM a year per truck. 4 years later, at 20k on the engine, nothing to report! Love the performance. Cheers!

What is the storage box on chassis called? Is there a specific name? Also do you know the name of storage of those L shaped boxes that go under standard chipper body box?

Hi, to my knowledge, the bigger cabinet is called a tunnel cab. Ours is 5 feet high 3 feet wide and approximately 8 feet long. As for the other boxes, I believe they are called underbody cabinets. I hope that helps.

We don’t have enough kilometres to justify dies. The box is 10 feet long and it is just the right size. If you are only a tree removal company, maybe you should consider something bigger. fast forward four years and we do a lot of pruning and don’t do a lot of removals so it’s perfect.

This video was taken 4 years go. We are a pruning and preservation focussed company, don't do too much removal. When we do, we fill it up too quick. After 4 years, I still love all the storage on it!

hey! it's a 108" CA "cab to axel" . you can have 13' 6" of body on it approximately.. we have a 3 foot storage and the rest for chips

Why the v10? Seems like the diesel gas ratio is 50/50. I have a ghetto v10 magnum dodge with a dump box that works fine but every now and then I get asked why gas? Personally it was a cheap truck and the mf gets like 12mpg dry or wet
